Quite Software Announces PDF Solutions at Drupa

Press release from the issuing company

LOCHAWE, Scotland - April 30, 2004 - Quite Software developers of innovative PDF solutions worldwide announced today they will showcase Three New Products at the Drupa 2004 trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany, May 6-19 at their booth located in "Innovation Parc" located between halls 1, 2, 3 & 4. At the show, Quite Software will demonstrate new technologies to extend their popular Quite Imposing family of products, including "imposition by example", lighting fast stand-alone tools, and XML support. Imposition By Example "We had been seeking a way to allow more automation of impositions, without compromising the flexibility and accessibility that our Quite Imposing Plus plug-in provides," says founder Aandi Inston. "We feel that our idea of 'imposition by example' satisfies this. Every time you make an imposed PDF, all the steps you take are stored in the PDF file as XML. We can play that back, any time, on any other PDF - so the first, working, PDF becomes an example for every future one. Stand-alone tools Quite were the first with Acrobat plug-ins for imposition, and we still see Acrobat as the ideal environment for imposition, because the results are so instantly available. But Acrobat is not suited to heavy-duty automatic work, hot folders or use on a server - it may not even be licensed. So we are planning to extend the tool set with self contained programs for hot folder processing, command lines, and more. We will have several stand-alone tools at the show, each of which can be controlled "by example" or from XML. XML support XML is rapidly gaining acceptance as a way of transferring information between programs, so it was a natural choice for us in describing imposition tasks. So we will encourage OEMs, integrators and workflow vendors to create XML files that describe impositions, to allow them to integrate our tools in their custom workflows.
