Press release from the issuing company

Healthcare and IT print services provider seizes on-demand print opportunity through partnership with Ricoh and market-leading inkjet and award-winning workflow technologies

MALVERN, PA – Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced that arvato North America, a division of Bertelsmann AG and a leading outsourcing and print services provider, has implemented the market-leading InfoPrint 5000 MP monochrome continuous feed inkjet print platform and RICOH ProcessDirector workflow software, part of the award-winning Critical Communications solution suite.  arvato states that it has achieved enhanced productivity and print quality of important on-demand documents.

arvato serves the healthcare and technology verticals, printing hundreds of millions of impressions per year for numerous customers throughout North America. The company partners with its customers to help them manage the supply chain and deliver a variety of services, including e-distribution, print, fulfillment and distribution of materials, such as on-demand manuals, inserts, marketing materials and insurance booklets. The rapid development cycle of arvato’s technology customers and the strict regulations of their healthcare customers have further increased the need for on-demand output capabilities with integrity and quick turnarounds.  arvato chose Ricoh for the InfoPrint 5000’s high throughput, high-quality duplex printing, excellent uptime and RICOH ProcessDirector’s ability to streamline the production process.  With these improvements combined with Ricoh’s professional services expertise, arvato is now able to better take advantage of the migration to an on-demand environment.

“Through our partnership with Ricoh, we’re able to meet our customers’ increased production and quality requirements,” said Todd Potrykus, Director of Operations, at arvato. “Ricoh was one of the few companies that could meet our aggressive implementation timeline, and they went to the length of bringing in experts to ensure that we were able to hit the ground running,” continued Potrykus. “Due to their dedication and proven solutions, we’ve seen a dramatic improvement in print quality, fantastic uptime, and have received invaluable input from their experts. Ricoh has exceeded our expectations”

The InfoPrint 5000 MP monochrome is a continuous feed inkjet printer designed to help users transition smoothly to inkjet. It offers speeds of up to 420 feet per minute, delivers low power consumption, and supports diverse media and enhanced halftones for quality grayscale output. RICOH ProcessDirector, part of the Critical Communications solution suite, is modular workflow software that enables flexible control of print production processes to streamline operations, improve process and integrity, enhance operator productivity, reduce errors and help lower costs.

“arvato is determined to serve their customers better and stay ahead of the industry trend for on-demand print. Their approach is a testament to why they’re a leader, and we’re honored they have selected Ricoh as a partner,” said Andre Brazeau, Vice President, Production Print Solutions, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “It’s been an exciting and enriching opportunity to work so closely with arvato in implementing the InfoPrint 5000 and RICOH ProcessDirector to help the transition from offset to inkjet and provide even quicker turnarounds and higher quality for their customers.”
