Copresco Installs Protopic III-540 Laminating System

Copresco has installed a Protopic III-540 laminating system at its Chicago area digital printing plant.
“The addition of this system increases our laminated book cover capacity and provides better control and faster turnaround of client’s projects,” says Copresco President and CEO Steve Johnson.
“The lamination process enhances the aesthetics and adds value to printed pieces by giving the impression of higher quality and importance. Lamination also provides strength, durability and permanence advantages and goes hand in hand with our digital on-demand production of publications, books and manuals,” Johnson added.
Applications for lamination include the covers of books, booklets, catalogs and calendars as well as a wide variety of technical and marketing materials. A major application for Copresco is the lamination of perfect bound books, a continually expanding market segment for the company’s digital printing services.
Copresco’s production staff investigated a number of varnish, ultraviolet (UV) cured and aqueous coating systems. The research determined that lamination was a far superior process that reflects high quality and class, while providing unmatched durability and resistance to scratches, rubbing, wrinkles and stains.
Laminates are available in gloss and matte finishes, depending on the desired look of the finished product.
Earlier this year, Copresco completed the updating and modernization of its six digital press lineup, which significantly increased the firm’s capability to produce millions of pages of short-run publications.
Copresco specializes in digital on-demand printing of publications, books and manuals for clients in the general business, printing trade, technical and institutional fields.
