TAPPI Calendar of Events Offers Opportunities for Education

ATLANTA, Ga., USA - The 2015 TAPPI Calendar of Events is available for print or download on the TAPPI website. In addition to information about upcoming conferences, symposia and exhibits, the Calendar of Events provides links to information about and registration for training courses and webinars. Presented by industry experts, TAPPI training courses provide attendees with the chance to develop problem-solving skills and expand their knowledge as well as the opportunity to earn CEUs.

“TAPPI is dedicated to providing the most current resources to the global pulp, paper, packaging and related industries and offers year-round opportunities to receive training in specific areas,” said Larry N. Montague, TAPPI president and CEO. “Whether they are an experienced specialist in their field or a young professional new to the industry, there’s always something more to learn and TAPPI gives them the opportunity.”

The TAPPI Kraft Recovery Course, to be held Jan. 12-15, 2015, provides comprehensive information on how to improve production efficiency, minimize operating costs and reduce environmental impact. This course offers both traditional workshops and team-based training sessions that will provide attendees with hands-on knowledge of the chemistry, physics and engineering principles related to kraft recovery. Among the many topics covered are recausticizing, lime kiln operations, black liquor evaporation, recovery boiler operations, corrosion, and energy optimization.

The TAPPI Introduction to Pulp and Paper Technology Course will be co-located with the Kraft Recovery Course. This introductory course is designed for professionals new to the industry as well as anyone who desires a better understanding of mill-wide operations. This course covers the entire papermaking process from raw materials through finishing operations. Attendees will learn about the pulp and paper industry’s products from industry experts and will gain knowledge to help them increase their contribution to improving mill operations.

The TAPPI Improving Paper Machine Performance Course, to be held Jan. 27-29, 2015, is the ideal course for intermediate and advanced level learners to gain knowledge about improving the performance and optimization efficiency of paper machines as well as evaluate the performance of their on-site paper machine against industry standards. Participants will learn how to establish paper machine performance audits, what tools are necessary to benchmark and enhance paper machine operations and how to identify sub-standard paper machine performance from four experienced industry professionals.

The TAPPI Best Practices on the Corrugator Course, Feb. 9-12, 2015, teaches participants how to understand each element of the corrugating process. Attendees will develop an understanding of the raw materials vital to guaranteeing the production of quality board as well as the causes of excess waste and how to minimize or eliminate it from the process.
