AF&PA Comments on Release of USDA’s BioPreferred Program Proposed Rule

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON – American Forest & Paper Association President and CEO Donna Harman issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) release of its proposed rule on the BioPreferred Program, indicating the inclusion of many paper and wood products for federal procurement and voluntary product labeling.

“We’re pleased that USDA has formally issued its proposed rule, as paper and wood products deserve to be recognized for their inherent biobased qualities. AF&PA supported the 2014 Farm Bill provisions to ensure inclusion of innovative paper and wood products in the program. We’re proud of our industry’s innovative products and processes and look forward to the opportunity to comment on the rule.”
