ORIS Color Tuner 5.1 to Debut at Drupa 2004

Press release from the issuing company

Hainburg, Germany (April 26, 2004) -- At Drupa 2004, CGS Publishing Technologies International will unveil the next stage in its award-winning contract proofing system, ORIS Color Tuner. Version 5.1 will include a step-by-step AutoCal Wizard, allowing less sophisticated users to easily linearize and calibrate a proofing device. Also included in version 5.1 is support for Pantone’s Hexachrome color system, and a new Personal Edition on OS X for design companies and agencies. “Contract-level proofing is no longer the private domain of a few color specialists,” said company president Andreas Kämmerer. “Increasingly, there is a need for accurate proofs in locations where technical color expertise is limited. Color Tuner 5.1 is designed to make accurate proofing possible anywhere, by anyone.” A key element of the upgrade is a detailed “Color Wizard,” which provides a step-by-step approach to proofer installation, linearization and device calibration. The Wizard simplifies Color Tuner’s unique Automatic Calibration function, which was a leading factor in the product’s winning of the 2003 GATF InterTech award. Using the Wizard, multiple users in different locations can easily align their respective printers to a single standard. ORIS Color Tuner 5.1 will faithfully render Pantone Hexachrome and other non-traditional process color spaces, using the full color gamut of inkjet devices from Epson, Canon and other manufacturers. In addition, the new version will feature direct connectivity with the X-Rite DTP41 and support for the latest model inkjet printers, including the Canon imagePROGRAF w6200 and the Epson Stylus Pro 4000. Other improvements include faster RIP processing and drag-and-drop printing. ORIS Color Tuner – Personal Edition As part of its Global Proofing initiative, CGS will also be releasing a Mac OS X version of ORIS Color Tuner. Designed for smaller workgroups, including design firms, ad agencies and in-house marketing departments, Color Tuner Personal Edition will provide the same degree of proof color accuracy as the Windows version. Instead of using ORIS Hotfolder Manager, Personal Edition will use the Mac OS’ built-in printer sharing capabilities to share the Epson or Canon device. Personal Edition users will be able to incorporate color conversion tables produced by the full version of Color Tuner, ensuring color proof consistency throughout the process.
