Muller Martini and MBO America partner to support Muller’s Presto II Digital technology

Press release from the issuing company

Market-leading print finishers to work in tandem to engineer multiple capability configurations for the Presto II Digital saddle stitcher

Muller Martini North America and MBO America have agreed to partner in support of the marketing, sales and distribution of pile- and roll-fed Presto II Digital saddle stitching technologies. This nonexclusive agreement emanates from the organizations’ similar manufacturing and customer service ideologies. Muller and MBO America’s highly complementary technology mix enables the optimum level of flexibility when configuring the Presto II Digital.

The game-changing Presto II Digital saddle stitching system’s innovative modular design lets printers and binders increase their capabilities—and product offerings—as the market demands. Even a stitcher originally equipped for only conventional operation with signature feeders can be expanded with pile- or roll-fed upstream components for use in digital printing. The stitcher can switch between digital and conventional product types as well as combination products, providing a fusion of digitally printed signatures with a conventional signature feeder along with selective cover binding.

MBO America will be the primary supplier for roll-fed and digital sheet-fed infeeds to the Presto II Digital. The SVC Series of sheeters in combination with the DFT Series of folders allows for high-speed input of digitally printed stock from rolls. MBO America’s Cut Sheet Feeder options serve the digital cutsheet market for both long and short run requirements. For more-demanding or custom applications, MBO America’s large portfolio of finishing modules gives the specialist many options.

So whether it’s a pile-fed device for producing simple four-page booklets or a high-end roll-fed device for higher page count books, MBO and Muller Martini can develop scalable solutions to meet the specific needs of their customer base while also providing unprecedented production, labor and workflow efficiencies.

Andy Fetherman, Director of Digital Solutions, Muller Martini Corp., commented on this partnership by saying, “Muller has been searching for a market pioneer that shared our engineering philosophy and could provide identical high-end technology support to our customers. The combination of Muller Martini and MBO technology delivers both the quality and the throughput speeds required by the emergence of digital printing and the higher productivity needs of this market space.”

Added Lance Martin, Director of Sales, MBO America, “We’re very excited about this partnership because it allows us to offer a true commercial stitching solution. By working with Muller Martini, MBO’s products can be utilized in a 24/7 commercial print operation that has sheet-fed offset capability and also a robust solution for digital that the Presto II Digital provides. Together, our solutions can speed changeovers and increase output and profits for our customers.”f
