DocBridge Mill Plus from Compart Now Transforms Legacy Print Streams to HTML 5 and PDF/UA

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, Illinois - Print operations managers can now leverage legacy IT infrastructure and allow customers to view documents via all physical and digital channels, thanks to revolutionary new technology from Compart to be demonstrated at Graph Expo 2014 (both#567).

Universal access means that any document, regardless of type, format, age and source, can be viewed, worked with, forwarded or replied to on paper, web, mobile or tablet. The days of waiting for PDFs to load are over.

The central question in customer communication today, according to John Lynch, Compart’s Regional Manager for North America, is how quickly and easily a consumer can conduct transactions on cell phones and other mobile devices. The reason is simple: Apple‘s release of the iPhone 6. The phone is enabled with near-field communication, or NFC, which allows consumers to wirelessly pay for items at checkout counters using their mobile phones. Industry experts predict that the phone will now be a “virtual wallet.” NFC has been around for a while, but hasn’t really taken off in the States. But now tens of millions of consumers are expected to try it when they upgrade their smartphones.

“PDF looks more like a way station than a destination when you see how clean and clear documents can be displayed on a mobile phone,“ said Lynch. “This show at McCormick Center will be known as “The HTML 5 Graph Expo.“

Compart can optimize data streams for device-independent document processing, beyond the confines of the A4 format and limited display size. DocBridge allows for universal access to documents—seamless multichannel delivery on paper, desktop, laptop, tablet and phone. The billing data is device-independent, looks great and is easy to read on any platform. No matter how a customer prefers to view a bill or statement, Compart bridges the divide between paper and digital, ad hoc and strategic, loss and profitability. Compart is now the first provider of legacy PDL-to-HTML5 conversion, a game-changer for consumers who rely on mobile phones or tablets for their purchasing, payment and viewing needs.

This version of DocBridge Mill Plus (2.2) allows documents to be generated in HTML5, the critical data format for display on the Web. The input files with a page layout are converted to output files with automatic breaks, modified to the given display capabilities (screen size, resolution). This means any type of document can be retrieved from the archive, converted to HTML5, and displayed and processed in the relevant specialist application.  A typical scenario occurs in banks, where sensitive documents such as securities statements are regularly retrieved. They are displayed locally to the processor, but may only be saved and processed centrally.

Barrier-free documents and metadata for automatic invoice processing

Another new feature of DocBridge Mill Plus is the ability to generate valid PDF/UA documents automatically with very little manual effort. The software is substantially more user-friendly. More and more functions can be set up using simple wizards and are easy to master even for users with little programming skill. DocBridge Mill Plus also supports current developments such as XMP, further advancing the automation and standardization in digital document exchange.

DocBridge Mill Plus 2.2 is being demonstrated at Graph Expo in the Compart booth, #567. General availability is October 15.
