Scodix Ultra Pro to Debut at Graph Expo 2014

Press release from the issuing company

Features Three Different Enhancement Apps on One Press

A complete solution for PSPs requiring the ability to switch from one finishing application to another, for target applications requiring pinpoint registration such as flat spot, high gloss enhancement, metallic foil and more

SCODIX, Israel – Scodix, the leading provider of digital enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry, today announced they will be expanding their line of presses with the introduction of the Scodix Ultra Pro™ at Graph Expo 2014. Engineered with the speed and quality of the Scodix Ultra (up to 1,250 B2+ sheets per hour), the new Scodix Ultra Pro system is additionally equipped with controls enabling operators to switch, rapidly and easily, between multiple polymers for varying applications and effects. Scodix Ultra Pro is also the first system to feature Scodix Spot™, a polymer that produces a spot varnish for short runs. Scodix Spot digitally recreates the effect of traditional flat varnishes, without the setup time or mess. Scodix will be debuting the new press in booth #2241.

Earlier this month, PRIMIR released a study ["Value-Added Printing & Finishing for Improved Profitability"] that directly concurs with the Scodix mantra,” states Mr. Roy Porat, Scodix CEO. “The study found that 93% of print and trade service providers directly attribute sales and increased profitability to value-added enhancements. Print service providers and folding carton converters are faced with a rapidly changing industry whose demands directly impact their own business, and Scodix offers them a single-source value-added solution. With the printing market becoming increasingly competitive, and market pressures drive margins down, Scodix allows print service providers to become solution service providers. This is especially critical as ‘print only’ evolves into a commodity.”

Additional User Benefits

The Scodix Ultra Pro is engineered to maximize efficiency. The patent-pending Scodix Ultra™ Twin-Tray media handling system conveys sheets under the fixed array of inkjet UV inkheads in a single pass. With two trays operating simultaneously; with an independent motion system for each tray, and with 4 CCD cameras to provide pinpoint registration accuracy, the Scodix Ultra Pro reaches the ultimate ratio of performance and efficiency.

The system also enables a single operator to run the system, and maintenance can be carried out automatically and remotely. With set up requiring minimal time, design and implementation of various enhancements is both user and production friendly, while encouraging greater creativity.

As with all Scodix offerings, the Scodix Ultra Pro is based upon the company’s Scodix SENSE technology, which includes:

  • Scodix RSP™ Technology: Ensures pin-point enhancement positioning and registration;
  • Scodix High Impact: Touch and feel to make your print stand out;
  • Scodix 99 GU: Delivers the highest level of gloss units attainable for printed materials;
  • Scodix Variable Density: Allows for variable polymer thickness - all in a single pass

The addition of Scodix Spot and union of these technologies enable the Scodix presses to deliver results that meet and exceed the critical production requirements of even the most demanding commercial PSP’s or folding-cartons converters. The Scodix Ultra Pro supports countless applications for paper and flat media, including stationery, book covers, premium packaging, marketing and promotional tools, greeting cards, and photo albums.
