manroland to Focus on Finishing at Graph Expo 2014

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL – With recent successes worldwide, the focus at Graph Expo 2014 of manroland web systems Booth #1248 will be the industrial-scale design of digital folding and finishing products, FoldLine and FormerLine. In addition to digital finishing excellence, manroland web systems will continue to highlight the innovation and profitability of the fastest, highest quality, most efficient web offset printing, folding and workflow technologies on the market.

Stronger Production for Digital Folding & Finishing

FoldLine offers the options for variable Broadsheet & Tabloid sections & page numbers for personalized issues. The comprehensive configuration of FoldLine results in a high-capacity and versatile production system. The folder and finisher digitally recreate conventional offset products with quick, dynamic job changeovers, unrivalled by competitive products. The available web width enables up to eight pages, and asymmetric production with partial-width webs is also possible.

FormerLine offers variable book signatures and page numbers as well as glued book-block finishing. Both digital finishing products offer outstanding productivity, variable cut sheet separation, dynamic change of pagination and cut-off length “on-the-fly,” and full JDF/JMF-controls for setup times as low as 3 minutes with a full format change.

The Strength of Web Offset
The COLORMAN e:line, in successful production at Allgaeuer Zeitung in Kempten, Germany, is a highly-automated blanket-to-blanket press with a reputation as the most flexible newspaper offset machine on the market. Allgaeuer Zeitung utilizes the COLORMAN e:line’s speed and automation to deliver eight regional editions daily, while utilizing the low energy consumption, ergonomics, and efficiency of the press to complete this challenging task on a daily basis with economic success.

In the world of Commercial Web Offset, manroland web systems has maintained its reputation of excellence. Whether seeking an excellent price-to-performance ratio and serviceability with the ROTOMAN HiPrint, or the additional production flexibility provided by the LITHOMAN 32-pages, the robust press designs and modularity of controls and components create a competitive machine for most print industry business models.

A Stronger Newspaper
In the world of newspaper printing, manroland web systems has been at the forefront of creating a portfolio of solutions for customers, allowing newspaper print centers to utilize their existing equipment in new ways.

Adding inkjet print heads to offset presses, available in full color and at press speeds, integrates variable data into the offset process. The conversion of double-wide presses to Three-Around not only provides newsprint savings, but new formats that appeal to readers. The addition of heatset or UV Dryers to allow commercial quality, and folding innovations which create plow-folds, flying pages, and half-covers breathe new life into print operations.

Strengthening the Fundamentals
Improved performance, training, and maintenance for pressrooms is a strategic focus of manroland web systems in North America. “Establishing superior pressroom fundamentals is the key to operational excellence,” stated manroland web systems North America CEO Greg Blue, “What differentiates our approach is our ability and willingness to come up with the most cost-effective plan, whether long-term or short-term, that makes the most sense for each company’s business.”

Whether for upgrades, web width reductions, overhauls, or comprehensive training packages, the service and engineering teams at manroland web systems continue to use their technological expertise to customize and reshape the portfolio of aftermarket offerings, and keep customers successful.

Located in the South Hall of McCormick Place at Booth #1248, the team from manroland web systems will be available to discuss the efficient, customized solutions being utilized to strengthen print operations throughout the newspaper, commercial, and book markets.
