AF&PA, IP, and RockTenn Educate State Legislators About Paper Manufacturing and Recycling

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON – The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) hosted over 40 state legislators and staff from 25 states on Monday for facility tours in conjunction with this week’s National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) 2014 Legislative Summit in Minneapolis, Minn.

“The NCSL Legislative Summit is the largest gathering of state legislators in the country, making it the ideal venue for legislators to learn more about our industry’s contributions to sustainable manufacturing and our paper recycling track record,” said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman. “By hosting these tours, we can explain how the industry’s role in the local economy conveys to the global economy, demonstrate how our sustainable manufacturing practices are economic drivers in local communities, and showcase the industry’s family wage manufacturing jobs at our facilities around the country.”

The group visited International Paper’s (IP) Roseville-Twin Cities Recycling Collection Center and RockTenn’s St. Paul Containerboard and Coated Paperboard Mill, learning about recycling and sustainable manufacturing.
