Appleton Coated introduces 24 lb pharma insert (PI) opaque and expands PI offering into high-speed web inkjet market

Combined Locks, Wis. - Appleton Coated introduces a new 24 lb basis weight to its Pharma Insert (PI) Opaque product line. It is a significant new development in the company’s continued expansion into new markets. It is designed and manufactured specifically for high-speed production of pharmaceutical insert and onsert projects in both traditional offset and high-speed web inkjet platforms. 

In addition to the new 24-pound PI Opaque, Appleton Coated recently expanded its PI line to include products for dye-based and pigment-based web inkjet platforms as well as with ColorPRO® technology for the HP® T-series platforms.

“Our customers have asked for lighter basis weights and PI products that perform on high-speed web inkjet presses, and Appleton Coated has delivered,” says John Mazuroski, Appleton Coated’s business development manager for technical and specialty products. Our Pharma Insert Opaque products deliver unsurpassed converting and gluing on all types of equipment and are providing customers with exceptional finished products.”

Appleton Coated Pharma Insert Opaque is available in 24-, 26-, 27-, 30-, 35-, and 40-pound basis weights in rolls and sheets for offset and rolls only for web inkjet. Acid-free, enhanced elemental chlorine-free (EECF) and pH neutral, it may be ordered with post-consumer recovered fiber (PCRF), as FSC® certified (FSC® C007796); SFI® certified; PEFC® certified and with Green-e® certified Green Power. For all grades that carry the Green Power designation, 100% of the electricity used to manufacture these products is matched with renewable energy credits (RECs) from Green-e certified energy sources, primarily wind.
