TAPPI Announces 2014 PEERS Engineering Leadership and Service Award Winner

ATLANTA, Ga., USA – This year’s recipient of the PEERS Engineering Division Leadership and Service Award is Daniel A. Curry of TRC Environmental Corporation.  The award will be presented at the opening session of the PEERS Conference on Sept. 14 in Tacoma, Wash., and is given in honor of individuals who display exemplary leadership and outstanding service to the Division. 

Dan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1986 and went to work directly for Champion International Corporation.  For the next 11 years, he held Environmental and Health and Safety positions at three mills in North Carolina and New York.

 In 1994 he received his Professional Engineering License in Environmental Engineering in North Carolina.  Dan has been providing environmental consulting services to the pulp and paper industry since 1997, currently with TRC Companies Inc.

Dan has been a TAPPI member since 1988. He held several positions in the Empire State Section, Northern District. He was active in the TAPPI Environmental Division on the Technical Programming Committee and remained involved when it joined the Engineering Division. For the past five PEERS conferences, Dan has served as the Environmental Working Group Chairman to bring key environmental issues and technical developments to the TAPPI community.
