Sun Chemical’s Legal Department Recognized for Work with Outside Counsel

Press release from the issuing company

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Sun Chemical’s legal department was named a “Legal Department of the Year” in Corporate Counsel magazine, a publication included in the New Jersey Law Journal, in the category of “Outside Counsel Management.”

Sun Chemical’s legal department received the award because of its philosophy of maintaining the inside-outside counsel relationship one of total collaboration. The department, which includes nine attorneys, a team of intellectual property professionals and support staff, takes a hands-on approach to managing outside counsel.

“I want in-house staff to stay on top of work assigned to outside counsel and I think we do that well,” said Jim Van Horn, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Sun Chemical. “Managing outside counsel well is about obtaining the best results for Sun Chemical and maintaining the best working relationship with the law firms that we select to work with as part of our team. Sun Chemical has a talented group of professionals that adds value to our businesses every day. We’re honored to have been recognized with this award from Corporate Counsel magazine and I think it speaks volumes about the staff in our department and the fine work that they do.”

The Sun Chemical legal department will be recognized for their achievement during an awards dinner held on November 6th at the Newark Club.
