Creel Accelerates Digital Expansion with New Facilities, "Mega" Press

Press release from the issuing company

LAS VEGAS, NV - Digital Lizard, a Creel Printing company, has completed the installation of its new HP Indigo W7250 - a powerhouse, photo-quality digital production press available at fewer than 50 commercial providers nationwide. The move marks another milestone in Creel’s ongoing digital growth strategy, having made two acquisitions and a multi-million-dollar investment into facilities and technological development over the last two years.

In addition to being one of the world’s foremost digital production presses, the HP Indigo W7250 is unique in its 12.75" x 39" cutoff size and market-leading photo reproduction quality.

“We are excited about the new parameters and capabilities,” said Bill Wieners, President of Digital Lizard. “This press not only opens up new creative format options, but also delivers unsurpassed production capacity, with full personalization abilities.”

“Digital Lizard is one of very few commercial providers nationwide giving customers access to this exceptional technology,” added Wieners.

The new press, along with six other digital presses, is housed in Digital Lizard’s premier new facility at 2650 Westwood, Las Vegas—the site of Creel’s original shop built by founder Eugene Creel in the 1960s. In the last 12 months, the 30,000-square-foot building has been completely renovated, offering a highly automated pressroom, well-appointed office space, pristine customer viewing area and lounge—and more digital print capacity than any other provider in the Las Vegas area. The facility is also equipped with temperature, humidity, airflow, energy, and other controls designed specifically around digital production.

The new location works in tandem with Digital Lizard’s Hayden, ID, plant, which boasts another 10 HP digital presses. The two manufacture an extensive array of marketing pieces, direct mail, photogift products, convention materials, and other items, most of which are received, produced, and shipped the same day.

Both facilities also leverage proprietary technologies that enable the enterprise to securely integrate with customers’ existing systems and help them build unique digital solutions. Such work has included on-demand response mailings for lost PINs and automated product development systems for the yearbook and photogift markets.

“Creel continues to invest in the innovations and technologies that drive growth—for both our company and our customers,” said Allan G. Creel, President of Creel Printing. “Our commitment to delivering the highest possible reproduction quality and most extensive capabilities remains a hallmark of our business.”

Founded in 1953, Creel Printing is one of the most tenured and awarded family-owned enterprises in the world of print. Ranked among the top 50 commercial printers, 10 largest publication printers, and 10 largest commercial digital printers, Creel’s capabilities span full-color web and sheetfed printing, variable digital production, digital editioning, integrated publishing and digital solutions, web-based storefronts, digital rights management, mobile marketing, and more. Creel runs a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot headquarters in Las Vegas and two expansive digital facilities. The company acquired Digital Lizard in 2011. Creel holds G7 master certifications and environmental tri-certification, along with numerous mailing, production, and lean manufacturing distinctions. The company runs three shifts, operating 24/7.
