Clear Lam Packaging Picks EFI Radius for Advanced Innovation in Workflow Management

Press release from the issuing company

FREMONT, California - EFI™, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, announced that Clear Lam Packaging, Inc. will move its business workflow management operations to an EFI Radius ERP software platform. Clear Lam selected Radius to gain more real-time access to data and enhance its management capabilities as it expands its business globally with consumer packaged goods companies and quick serve restaurant chains.

“While we have used another ERP system for several years, we saw a real need for a system that will allow our team members to remotely or internally view, at any time, the status of a job in the schedule or in production,” said Tom Caulfield, Clear Lam’s Chief Financial Officer.

Clear Lam, which is headquartered outside of Chicago, is a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative flexible and rigid packaging materials used with foods, personal health care products, electronics and detergents. The company chose EFI after having approximately 50 of its key employees determine their requirements for an ERP system. The comprehensive list those team members assembled formed the basis of an extensive RFP Clear Lam sent to the industry’s top workflow software providers. In the end, Clear Lam partnered with EFI based on the advanced, packaging-specific features and benefits Radius – the packaging industry’s leading ERP system – offers.

Innovation is essential for Clear Lam, and we like the emphasis EFI places on R&D, training and service to continue improving its products,” said Clear Lam’s Vice President of Finance, Thomas Wedoff.

The upgrade in business workflow systems to a new, comprehensive and functionally rich ERP platform reflects continuing momentum in innovation at Clear Lam, a company that recently earned a DuPont Award for Packaging Innovation for its patented PrimaPak™ product line.

Streamlined business processes from estimating to billing

While Clear Lam does some contract work where costs to its customers are set in advance, Radius will provide the company a more automated approach to non-contract work with quick and accurate pricing.

One of the big advantages of Radius is that the whole system starts with a strong estimating program,” said Caulfield. “It is a real positive for us because the software takes the initial information from a job quote through the entire manufacturing process. Upon completion of a job, we will immediately know how we performed compared to our estimate. They will assist us with future estimates and manage sales activity.”

Radius also will provide greater flexibility to meet diverse manufacturing needs at Clear Lam’s four divisions. Plus, Radius’s shop floor data collection module will help Clear Lam further improve its clients’ overall supply chain and product quality procedures by making it easier to track packaging production lots.

It is always a privilege to work with industry thought leaders like Clear Lam to help raise the bar in efficiency, flexibility and productivity,” said David Taylor, general manager, EFI Radius. “As a company that is committed to leading-edge design, environmental stewardship and overall packaging excellence, Clear Lam will benefit from comprehensive, packaging-specific EFI Radius technologies that drive better performance for converters worldwide.”

EFI is the leading business software provider for the packaging industry with its award-winning Radius product, which is part of a complete workflow and printing portfolio that also includes commercial print MIS/ERP software, eCommerce and web-to-print solutions, digital front ends and digital inkjet printers.

Flexible packaging, label and folding carton producers across the globe rely on Radius to proactively manage their businesses and become more streamlined, efficient, informed and profitable. For more information about Radius, visit www.efi.com or contact 800-875-7117.
