Standard Register and Precision Dynamics Align to Aid Hospitals

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, Ohio (April 8, 2004) – Standard Register, a leading provider of information management and process improvement solutions for healthcare, and Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a global leader in automatic wristband identification, announce they have formed a strategic alliance to address the critical challenge of more efficiently managing patient data to enhance patient safety, care and privacy. This initiative brings together Precision Dynamic’s thermal bar-code wristband solutions with Standard Register’s laser wristbands, picture-capture capability and document automation expertise to provide the healthcare industry with an unparalleled selection of automated patient identification and workflow solutions, which the two companies will jointly market. “Hospitals face incredible demands, from rising costs to increased regulatory requirements and paperwork to a shortage of medical personnel,” said Peter Dorsman, Standard Register’s chief operating officer. “Efficient, secure information management processes have become more critical than ever in ensuring quality of care. Through this joint sales and marketing effort, we are providing an even more comprehensive offering to help hospitals meet these challenges head on. “Standard Register and Precision Dynamics are assisting hospitals in establishing positive patient identification and tracking systems that are essential to patient safety, and in developing an approach to accurately capture and securely disseminate vital patient data. These are mission-critical solutions that should help hospitals drive down cost, reduce medical errors, and meet HIPAA and JCAHO requirements.” Under the alliance agreement, Standard Register is authorized to sell PDC’s full line of thermal bar-code wristband solutions and a host of other innovative patient identification products. PDC will promote Standard Register’s Patient LinkUp Enterprise (PLUE) as its preferred software solution for patient identification. PLUE combines bar-code technology and forms-automation software to streamline the process of collecting data in admissions and improve the flow of information throughout the delivery network. PDC has also designated Standard Register as its recommended provider for custom label services. With expertise in label design, materials, adhesives, coatings and manufacture, Standard Register provides labels to meet the specialized application needs and environmental requirements unique to the hospital environment. “We are delighted to be involved in this alliance with Standard Register and look forward to providing hospitals with additional solutions to meet their critical needs,” said Chuck Hugues, PDC director of sales for North America.” Dorsman added, “Standard Register and Precision Dynamics are deeply committed to the healthcare industry. Together, we have the opportunity to play an even greater role in helping hospitals improve their processes and contribute to the quality of patient care.”
