The drupa 2016 exhibit categories were revised and updated and are now divided into six main segments (formerly seven): pre-press/print; pre-media/multichannel; post press/converting/package printing; future technologies; materials; and equipment/ services/infrastructure.

When last held in 2012, about 314,000 visitors from 130 nations took part in drupa. With more than 190,000 visitors from counties other than Germany, the international focus of drupa was at a very high level. The second largest visitor nation after Germany (123,000 visitors) was India (some 15,000 attendees), followed by Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the U.S., Switzerland and Italy. An increase of visitors from South and Central America - especially from Brazil - was also recorded.
