Maxson Offers Affordable Dual Knife Rotary Sheeter

Press release from the issuing company

Maxson Automatic Machinery Company (Westerly RI USA) offers an affordable sheeter model that offers dual knife rotary cutter technology to printing and converting operations that either relied on the purchase of sheeted stock or, until recently, could only pre-owned machinery.  The design employs a high speed (1300 fpm) cutter outfitted with a delivery system that includes a reject gate and a stacker that uses a scissors lift load table.

The MAXSON MDH Sheeter is a compact, Operator friendly dual knife rotary cutter that can be equipped with productivity enhancement features.  The sheeter’s low inertia knife cylinders allow high speed on short cut offs, yet permits knife loading up to 1000 pounds/3300 ft2  (800 grams/meter2). Speeds of up to 1300 fpm (396 mpm) can be achieved.

In a board converting application, when outfitted with a dual position roll stand, down time associated with roll changes is minimized on the MDH Sheeter.  An Operator is able to pre load one roll while the other unwind position is in use.  Each unwind position is outfitted with a ‘low roll diameter’ detector that stops the sheeter at a preset diameter to allow quick splicing of the beginning of the roll to the end of the expiring roll thereby eliminating rethreading of the machine.

By using the MDH Sheeter’s “continuous run” feature, production can be maximized by the Operator removing press ready skids and inserting empty pallets while the sheeter keeps running. The time required to remove a skid, insert an empty pallet, raise the load table into position requires less than 60 seconds all accomplished without the loss of any acceptable sheets.
