Rochester, New York, April 5, 2004 - Rochester Software Associates (RSA) today announced the availability of QDirect.EDU—a new solution that enables school districts, colleges, and universities to optimize the utilization of their document production resources. QDirect.EDU automates the process of distributing high volume jobs that originate as hardcopy to a centralized print facility, thereby lowering costs and improving productivity. QDirect.EDU tightly integrates QDirect, RSA’s enterprise print job manager, with Xerox WorkCentre Pro and Document Centre multifunction devices (MFDs) to provide an easy-to-use, cost-effective solution for the centralized printing of hardcopy originals. Users scan their hardcopy at a local MFD and use the touchscreen interface to select job options. From here, the previously labor-intensive workflow is automated. QDirect.EDU creates an electronic, printer-specific job ticket based on the user’s selections and transmits the job to the centralized print facility for automated release to production printers. Jobs can be batched by priority, by delivery location, or other parameters to optimize printing, finishing, or delivery of the finished product. Users still have the convenience of using their local WorkCentre Pro or Document Centre to copy and print low volume jobs. In addition to automating the process of ticketing, routing, and printing jobs, QDirect.EDU captures detailed accounting information and can be integrated with a 3rd party document accounting solution for enterprise-wide cost recovery and expense management. For content already in electronic form, QDirect.EDU can be enhanced with the addition of WebCRD, RSA’s easy-to-use, browser-based print submission and fulfillment solution. The result is a seamlessly integrated system that meets the needs of the enterprise for streamlined, cost-effective document submission and distribution—whether the originals are in hardcopy or electronic form.
