Canopy’s latest search for North America’s Green Print Leaders is now underway

Press release from the issuing company

TORONTO - Today Canopy is releasing the second Green Print Leadership Survey, updated with valuable input from last year’s printer participants and numerous large print customers. This much-anticipated survey gives North America’s leading printers the opportunity to lay out their green credentials and reap the resulting business rewards.

In 2013, Canopy’s groundbreaking Green Print Leadership Report proved an invaluable resource to brands that use large volumes of paper and printed materials, guiding them to printers that are consistent with their sustainability goals. The survey and subsequent report stands as the most comprehensive independent effort to identify, assess and celebrate North American printers’ environmental achievements.

Invitations to be part of the report are now being circulated to the top 50 North American printers. Canopy’s survey will identify printers demonstrating leadership on a broad range of environmental issues, with a primary focus on endangered forests policies, sustainability reporting, engagement on forest conservation initiatives and ecopaper procurement.

The Green Print Leadership Survey is quick, convenient, and strictly confidential. It will provide the raw data to identify and promote North America’s print leaders. No grades are assigned - instead standout environmental leadership is highlighted and celebrated.

“As more printers develop policies with support from Canopy, the Green Print Leadership Survey will help distinguish the leaders from the pack” said Marcus Ginder, Canopy’s Boreal Campaigner. “Print customers continue to seek printers that truly reflect their sustainability goals”

Canopy will share the results of the Green Print Leadership Report with its 700+ corporate partners. This effort to identify Green Print Leaders is widely supported by the organization’s business partners, including Sprint, a large-scale consumer of paper and print services and an industry leader in forest conservation and ecopaper procurement.

"As a major print customer with a robust paper purchasing policy, Sprint is committed to working with printers that meet our goals. The forest conservation work Canopy advocates for is well aligned with our vision”, says Darren Beck, Corporate Responsibility Manager and Paper Leadership Council Advisor for Sprint.

Thirty-six printers, representing 254 printing plants and including three of North America’s biggest printing companies responded to last year’s survey. The Green Print Leadership report recognized TC Transcontinental, EarthColor, Hemlock and Sandy Alexander as stand-outs in their size categories.

All printers are invited to complete the voluntary, no-fee online survey to gain third party recognition of their sustainability efforts. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PrinterSurvey2014
