PODi and locr Partner to Create Personalized Travel Video

Press release from the issuing company

Braunschweig, Germany - locr, the world’s leading provider of personalized maps and geolocation services, and PODi, The Digital Printing Initiative, have teamed up to produce a personalized video that guides viewers on a trip to the 2014 PODi AppForum, being held Mach 28 – April 2, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This video is part of an email campaign used by PODi to generate engagement and interest in their annual event.

Each video in the campaign is personalized for each recipient. The video begins at the same place the viewer’s trip will begin – at his or her local airport. Then, using images from the venue, maps, and other personalized elements, the video guides the viewer from the airport to their final destination at Cesar’s Palace, the hotel where the AppForum is taking place.

Dave Erlandson, General Manager of Caslon & PODi, commented on the video, saying, “The goal of the PODi AppForum is to provide experiences that show our members how to be successful in selling, implementing, and producing products and services that meet the needs of their clients. The video we created with locr is an extension of that goal. It brings together relevant technologies like video, personalization, and email, to create an engaging experience for our members. We hope our members enjoy watching, but most importantly, we hope that they are inspired to make use of the ideas represented in the video.”

To create the video, locr used their geo-information services to convert mailing addresses into longitude/latitude coordinates. These coordinates were then used to assign the airport that was closest to the member. Once assigned, the departure airport was personalized in the video, giving the viewer a personal experience of their journey. PODi included the personalized videos in an email marketing campaign to their members.

Oliver Podzun, Head of Sales and Marketing for locr, notes, “Members come to The AppForum to experience the latest innovations, to share ideas, and to learn from each other. We wanted to create a video that reflected that type of interaction. The result was this personalized video campaign which gives users a way to see their journey and provoke ideas on how they too can use personalized maps and video to meet their client’s needs.”

locr will be showcasing the video, along with their range of solutions for creating personalized maps, at the 2014 PODi AppForum.
