Techkon Announces New Functions for SpectroDens

Press release from the issuing company

TECHKON, a leading manufacturer of color measuring instruments for the printing industry announces new functions and features for its latest generation of the SpectroDens handheld Spectro-Densitometer.

New scan-function for individual control elements. The instrument can measure density and spectral values of up to 54 patches in one scan. Advanced pattern recognition algorithms secure correct readings. For the scan no guide bar is required, the four wheels keep straight alignment while scanning.

Support of the common ECI/bvdm Gray Control Strips tvi10 and M i1 with ISO-Check function. The function allows users a performance check in accordance to ISO/PSO within 3 seconds.

New ISO 12647-2:2013 values available in SpectroDens. In December 2013 the new target values and tolerances for offset printing have been published. These values have been integrated into SpectroDens and software SpectroConnect already.

New paper indices to check quality of printing substrates are available now. Functions like Whiteness Berger and Stensby, Brightness TAPPI 452, Yellowness CIE and Opacity are helping to analyze the quality of paper.

The new SCCA reference value correction will allow printers to quickly and easily achieve an acceptable color match regardless of the presence of optical brightening agents in their substrates. The SCCA formula, developed

by David McDowell, member of IDEAlliance Print Properties & Colorimetric Committee, calculates new aim points right on the instrument.

All news are available free of charge depending on the instrument version by firmware update of SpectroDens. The new firmware and software SpectroConnect can be downloaded at www.techkon.com

The instrument will be showcased during IPEX show in London from
24th – 29th March, 2014 at the TECHKON stand N1C095.
