Chowan University Graphic Communications Department Establishes Industry Advisory Committee

Murfreesboro, NC — Twenty industry leaders from NC, VA and MD have agreed to serve on Chowan University’s  Krueger School of Graphic Communications advisory committee. The purpose of the committee is to guide one of the premier four-year printing programs in the country into the every changing printing and packaging arena. At a recent meeting the committee has agreed the university should foucus on color management, packaging, variable data printing, MIS sytems, mailing, as well as the traditional areas of offset, flexo and screen printing.

The four faculty members, Tom Brennan, Chair, Tom Whiteman, Dr. Mitch Henke and Jennifer Groves bring over 100 years of combined industry and training experience to the program. The school recently purchased a FUJI/Xerox J75 digital press to enhance the VDP, storefront creation and color management for digital printing class offerings. In addition the program has the entire ESKO packaging design and workflow software and an Krosnsberg XP cutting table where students are learning the basics of structral design.

The twenty committee members are: Jeff Stoudt of PICA; Greg Jordan of Teagle & Little; Susan Higgins of Worth Higgins & Associates; Sid Chadwick, Chadwick Consulting; Emit Stover of ViTech; Dave Boyton of Mac Papers; Dick Vann of PostMark, Inc.; Kelly Webb of Meredith-Webb Printing; Christina Rupsch of Tidewater Community College; Greg Morrison, UFirst Consulting LLC; Tom O’Brien, President, AccuLink; Teresa Jaynes, Classic Graphics; Paul Lynaugh, Fuji; Kerry Stackpole , Printing & Graphics Association MidAtlantic; Sherman Carter, PBM; Elwood Neale, EFI; John Augustine, Frederick County Career & Tech Center; and Michael Drummond, Packrite, LLC.

Started in 1953, The Krueger School of Graphic Communications is celebrating it’s sixty-first year of developing the talents of young people for placement into the graphic communications and printing industries. Students completing the program at Chowan University receive a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Communications.
