ROCHESTER, N.Y. - More than 1,500 attendees filled the Wynn Las Vegas at the end of January for EFI Connect 2014, an annual event featuring exhibits, educational tracks, networking opportunities, and more. As a Gold Sponsor of the event and long-time partner to EFI, Kodak met with many customers during the four days, sharing advice on how to integrate EFI Solutions with KODAK PRINERGY Workflow, highlighting new features in KODAK PRINERGY Workflow 6, and answering technical questions.

“There are so many EFI customers who use PRINERGY Workflow for their production workflow, and they need to know that their Print Management Information System (MIS) or Web-to-Print System from EFI will be able to integrate easily and share information that is critical to an automated production environment,” said Patrick Kerr, Kodak’s Worldwide Technical Product Manager for KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions. “EFI Connect gave us an excellent opportunity to talk with our customers about how they can get the most from their solutions and achieve maximum ROI.”

During the event, Kerr delivered a session entitled “Monetizing Your Workflow System.” In it, he discussed the impact of true integration and how workflow is more than just software—it’s the entire process from creation to output. Attendees learned about the value of workflow, from MIS connectivity and color management to consistency and waste reduction, and where to find the best return on investment. Released in mid-2013, PRINERGY Workflow 6 brings a new level of automation, accuracy and efficiency to print creation, while reducing costs in the pre-planning print stage and expanding product integration across Kodak and third-party solutions. PRINERGY Workflow 6 introduces a new streamlined productivity-focused interface called Workspace, providing an at-a-glance overview of prepress production, and easy-to-learn Manage, Plan and Track modules. PRINERGY 6 is the hub of an automated, integrated prepress workflow, which includes KODAK PREPS Imposition Software Version 7, KODAK COLORFLOW Software Version 2, and KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal Version 6.7.

Jim Tomblinson, Director of Operations at Modern Litho-Print, was one of the earliest Kodak customers to implement an integrated Kodak and EFI system. “We have eliminated many touchpoints in our commercial print workflow thanks to this partnership between Kodak and EFI. We’re printing jobs now in two to three days, whereas before it could take us a day or two just to get the job ticket written up. And the PRINERGY Workflow is at the center of it all. Everything else runs around it.” To hear more from Tomblinson, see the video at http://youtu.be/qscl1gAe9Fw.

Kodak is offering a two-part webinar series beginning on March 4 on the topic of integrating PRINERGY Workflow with EFI Solutions. Presenters in the webinar will include Patrick Kerr of Kodak and Nick Benkovich, Integrated Products Team Manager at EFI. For more details or to register for the webinar, click here.

“One of the things that separates Kodak as a workflow solution provider is the fact that we integrate with a broad range of third-party solutions,” concluded Kerr. “We recognize that our customers make investment choices that best suit their business needs, and we are committed to helping them make everything work together efficiently.”
