At the 2014 Key Executives Mega-Conference this month in Las Vegas, Nev., Southern Lithoplate will feature the Replica ECO LCV, a low-chemistry printing plate for newspapers’ violet CtP workflow. In response to the growing demand for a negative-working digital plate option for top-quality newspaper printing, Southern Lithoplate has expanded its market-leading Viper lithoplate series. Southern Lithoplate will showcase the Viper® 830 TPX at the Mega-Conference. This new thermal photopolymer lithoplate is designed for the speed, precision and affordability needed by today’s newspaper operations. It produces exceptional images and text in newspapers, advertisements, inserts and flyers.

In addition, Southern Lithoplate will highlight the Integra® 830 P positive-working commercial lithoplate. The Integra plate offers a cost-effective and easy-to-use thermal plate solution.

Mega-Conference attendees will have an opportunity to meet Gary Blakeley, Southern Lithoplate’s new Director of Global Service and Technical Support. In a career spanning 30 years, Blakeley is widely recognized for his diverse expertise, leadership and expert consulting.

Southern Lithoplate is always exploring new services that drive customer revenues. Customer partners can learn to print to G7®-based specifications through its G7 Quality Program. Southern Lithoplate quality and service include support for Specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production (SNAP) Certification. Several users of Southern Lithoplate solutions recently were awarded certificates marking their adherence to SNAP production guidelines.

Eleven newspaper publishers and coldweb printing operations are among the most recent adopters of digital solutions that Southern Lithoplate will emphasize at this year’s Mega-Conference.

The Korea Times, the largest Korean-language newspaper in the United States, purchased a bundled offering consisting of the Southern Lithoplate Replica ECO LCV plate and ECRM Newsmax violet platesetter. The Korea Times acquired the plate and platesetter through the Southern LithoplateStrategic Alliance.

The Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper, Ala., worked with the Strategic Alliance to assemble a violet CtP package built around Replica ECO LCV plates and ECRM Mako News platesetter with RIP upgrade.

Three additional newspapers rolled out the Replica ECO LCV plate: Cody (Wyoming) Enterprise, Rochelle (Illinois) News-Leader and Yuma (Colorado) Pioneer.

Community Printers Inc. of Shamrock, Texas, opted for a bundle through the Strategic Alliance that included the Replica HSV violet plate and ECRM Mako News. The Replica HSV combines wide exposure latitude with consistent, durable printing.

The Bedford (Pennsylvania) Daily Gazette, a member of the Sample News Group, chose the Replica HSV plate for its print operation.

The following three newspapers tapped Southern Lithoplate to implement the Viper 830® TPX digital plate. The Lexington (Kentucky) Herald-Leader is a McClatchy Company paper. Florida Today in Melbourne, Fla., is owned by Gannett Company, Inc. The Corpus Christi (Texas) Caller-Times is part of The E.W. Scripps Company.

Morris Newspaper Corp. of Wisconsin purchased the NewsXtreme Lite newspaper workflow from Presteligence thanks to the Southern Lithoplate Strategic Alliance. The production management software will support newspaper production at Morris’ primary production facilities in Lancaster, Wis.
