Packaging Innovations lives up to its name with i-Sub Digital technology

Press release from the issuing company

KETTERING, UK - Visitors to this month's Packaging Innovations show will be able to see i-Sub Digital's exclusive Digi-Foil system in action on a standalone basis as well as within an end-to-end packaging process.

Co-located with Converting, Print and Labelling Innovations, Contract Pack, Packtech and Ecopack onFebruary 26th and 27th 2014 at the NEC in Birmingham, Packaging Innovations will feature technology spanning the whole of the packaging market.

Digi-Foil, launched to industry acclaim in autumn 2013, enables packaging specialists to create colour-accurate mock-ups in under ten minutes – shortening the process by days or even weeks compared to traditional processes.

The system uses a Mimaki UJF desktop printer, foil and a heated roller to produce eye-catching metallic foiling effects, identical to the finished product, without the need for expensive dies. A range of colours, patterns, effects, holographic images and security marks are also easily and quickly achieved, making Digi-Foil also ideal for personalised items as well as packaging.

In addition, i-Sub Digital will be teaming up with Zünd to demonstrate the end-to-end packaging potential of using the Mimaki UJF-6042 with Zünd cutting table equipment. The Mimaki UJF-6042, an A2 desktop flatbed printer, can print at up to 1,800dpi directly onto substrates and items up to 150mm thick with eco-friendly LED UV curing technology. Its clear varnish option enables packaging printers to add tactile effects including Braille and unique textures, while the full colour gamut plus white ink creates high-quality, lifelike images.

Output will be then be processed on a Zünd S3 M-1600 with a Tandem Vacuum system, designed to minimise delays in the production of packaging.

"Together with Zünd, at Packaging Innovations 2014 we'll be demonstrating how complete, colour-accurate packaging mock-ups can be produced cost-effectively and at a significantly lower price point using digital equipment, compared to traditional dies and cutting kit," says Andy Spreag, Director of Kettering-based i-Sub Digital.

"Whether it's high-quality colour or eye-catching metallic foiling, the Mimaki UJF is ideal for packaging designers as well as label producers and print houses."

The Digi-Foil system is available exclusively from i-Sub Digital. For further information, or to book a demonstration, please email [email protected] or call 01536 415511.

Packaging Innovations runs from Wednesday February 26th to Thursday 27th 2014 at the NEC in Birmingham. I-Sub Digital can be found at stand H10 with Zünd.
