Mohawk Releases Third Issues of Mohawk Maker Quarterly and Craft Cooperative Publications

Publications enhanced with augmented reality technology; printed on historic Strathmore

Cohoes, NY – Mohawk, North America’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of fine papers, envelopes and specialty substrates for commercial and digital printing, announces the release of the third issues of theMohawk Maker Quarterly and Mohawk Craft Cooperative publications. 

The publications are designed to celebrate an emerging maker culture and are enhanced with additional content made possible through Mohawk Live, Mohawk’s augmented reality app. The third issues focus on the topic of details, specifically recognizing the principle that detail is often found at the heart of craftsmanship. To underscore that message and to further showcase the tactile beauty of fine paper, the publications are printed on Mohawk Strathmore, widely regarded as the finest writing, letterhead and social stationery paper made today.

Strathmore has set the standard for design and innovation since 1895.  This diverse assortment including cotton papers, colors and finishes, honors tradition while striking new ground with contemporary colors and surface technologies, adding an element of luxury to all printed communications. The third issue of the Mohawk Maker Quarterly is printed on Mohawk Strathmore Pure Cotton paper.  Strathmore Pure Cotton is an ultra-premium 100% cotton paper made from premium cotton pulps.  Its crisp, starched, wove finish projects an image of elegance while demonstrating the ultimate in craftsmanship and detail.  Strathmore Pure Cotton paper and the Mohawk Maker Quarterly both proudly display the prestigious Strathmore watermark, another hallmark of this luxurious, historic and distinctive brand.

Strathmore Pure Cotton papers are manufactured carbon neutral, made with windpower, available in four shades of white, two basis weights, and feature a distinctive watermark.  Matching Strathmore Pure Cotton wove envelopes are available at mohawkconnects.com.  Strathmore Writing and Pure Cotton papers are also manufactured acid-free and meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards for archival performance. 

The Mohawk Maker Quarterly

Mohawk believes that partnership is essential to furthering the interests of makers, and the Mohawk Maker Quarterly is a vehicle to support this community of like-minded individuals. Content focuses on stories of small manufacturers, artisans, printers, designers and artists who are making their way in the midst of the digital revolution. 

The third edition of the Mohawk Maker Quarterly focuses on Pride in the Details, featuring eloquent stories including, In Search of a Better BeanPrint Thrives in a Digital Age and the Story of Strathmore, which uncovers the rich history of the Strathmore brand, celebrating a century-plus reputation for quality and craftsmanship.

The centerfold reveals a bold and unexpected surprise: an original Jessica Hische poster illustration featuring the Wes Anderson quote, “The details that’s what the world is made of,” commissioned for Mohawk.   Using the Mohawk Live augmented reality mobile app, readers can watch an exclusive time lapse video of Jessica as she skillfully illustrates the poster in her design studio.

The Mohawk Craft Cooperative

The Mohawk Craft Cooperative is a quarterly publication designed to appeal to printers by restoring printers’ belief in the power of craftsmanship in the midst of a digital world. 

Issue three of The Mohawk Craft Cooperative focuses on ‘The Business of Details,’ and highlights the beautifully tactile properties of Mohawk Strathmore Premium, Super Smooth, Ultimate White, 65 cover.  Strathmore Premium is a diverse grade made with premium pulps, resulting in outstanding print performance. 

The Strathmore Premium line features a sophisticated palette of 26 beautiful shades, nine distinctive textures, and ten basis weights ranging from 24 writing to 160 cover.

Issue three features articles designed to inspire print professionals to grow their business in the midst of a digital world.  ‘The Print Buyer Field Guide helps printers focus their sales by taking a closer look at their clients’ needs and motivations. The guide breaks down seven customers of print, outlining key business drivers for each customer, and providing tips on how print professionals can connect with customers to close a sale.

The Mohawk Maker Quarterly and Mohawk Craft Cooperative publications are enhanced with additional content made possible through Mohawk’s new augmented reality mobile app, Mohawk Live, which generates interactive experiences via print, making print more relevant than ever.
