Lanier Launches Two High-Volume Digital Multifunction Products

Press release from the issuing company

ATLANTA--Nov. 24, 2003-- Lanier Worldwide, Inc. today introduced the Lanier LD122 and LD127 Digital Multifunction Products (MFPs), which deliver up to 22 or 27 pages per minute at 600 dpi. They offer complete multifunction capabilities, including digital copying, network printing, scanning, and optional faxing, plus new technologies for network scanning, Internet faxing, and email integration. Both systems will be available immediately. "Today's workgroups need document management systems that can help them with every document-related task," said Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of Marketing for Lanier. "The new Lanier LD122 and LD127 fulfill that need. They set a new standard for multifunction performance, delivering all the essentials of document production and finishing, plus the latest tools for file management, scan-to-email, paperless faxing, and other advanced capabilities." As digital copiers and network printers, the LD122 and LD127 produce up to 22 or 27 pages per minute at 600 dpi. Both systems also offer 600 dpi scanning, and either a 1,000-sheet or 500-sheet stacking finisher, both of which can staple documents up to 50 pages. Both the LD122 and LD127 offer industry-standard connectivity for plug-and-play network integration. They also feature standard utilities for remote administration that allow authorized users to monitor device status, check network settings, manage job queues, and access the built-in document server through a familiar Web browser interface. "Network administrators can use the Web Image Monitor and SmartDevice Monitor tools to accomplish virtually all critical tasks remotely, at any time, with point-and-click simplicity," Pontrelli said. "These tools are important because the LD122 and LD127 are designed for shared use in large workgroups. When administrators can get everything they need through a Web browser, instead of walking to the system, it is a significant time-saver." Users can also take advantage of scan-to-folder for document distribution in LAN or WAN environments. With scan-to-folder users scan original documents and deliver them over the network directly to a specific folder on an authorized network PC. Users must provide a login and password, so file transfer is secure. Document size is virtually unlimited, and the feature supports SMB and FTP protocols to accommodate any Windows, Macintosh, or UNIX platform. The LD122 and LD127 are also enabled for scan-to-email, which enables users to send scanned files in either standard PDF or TIFF format, then deliver them as email attachments to one of up to 2,000 addresses stored locally on the system's hard disk drive. In larger organizations that have an email server in place, the LD122 and LD127 offer LDAP compatibility, so they can interface with the corporate email address book. Both systems offer three optional fax modes. They can be configured with a conventional 33.6 kbps modem. They also enable low-cost Internet faxing by converting scanned fax documents to TIFF files, attaching them to an email message, and sending the email to another Internet-ready fax machine. Finally, they offer paperless faxing over the LAN, which allows users to send a document to the fax machine just as they would send it to a printer, complete with a customized cover page.
