Chowan University Graphic Communications Department opens the Krueger Gallery of Photography and Fine Printing with a student show entitled ‘The Birds’

Murfreesboro, NC. - Chowan University’s Department of Graphic Communications celebrated the opening of it’s new Krueger Gallery of Photography and Fine Printing with a Gala Celebration and Open House on January 24th. Over 150 attendees were given guided tours of the gallery, enjoyed good food, good music, and received free posters of the student photography show entitled ‘The Birds’.

Tom Brennan, department head of the Graphic Communications department, said “It’s a grand day for our department. We converted an old darkroom area in the center of our building into a fabulous gallery space. Here we’ll be able to display student work as well as regionally and nationally know photographers.” ‘The Birds’ is series of photographs taken at the Sylvan Bird Sanctuary in Scotland Neck, NC. by Professor Tom Whitman’s digital photography class and will be on display until February 7. “It’s not only a wonderful space to display fine photography, but also gets folks into our facility to see all the other cutting edge technologies our program has to offers. From high-end digital printing, and package design to wide format output for banners and wall graphics”, said Brennan.

Started in 1953, The Krueger School of Graphic Communications is celebrating it’s Sixty-first year of developing the talents of young people for placement into the graphic communications and printing industries. Students completing the program at Chowan University receive a four-year bachelor of science degree in Graphic Communications.
