Chesapeake Lexington Installs Speedmaster XL106

Press release from the issuing company

Chesapeake Lexington has just benefited from the installation of a sophisticated Heidelberg packaging printing press. The Speedmaster XL106 is an eight unit perfector press with twin coaters which has the ability to print eight colours on the board’s surface or seven colours and one on reverse. The investment, which complements the recent installation of a Bobst ExpertCut and Experfold machine at the site, will serve customers primarily in the pharma and consumer good sectors. It will allow the operation to continue to offer its customers the very best production options and to further develop the site’s award winning capabilities.

The investment follows extensive trials which proved it could consistently meet the exacting colour standards demanded by Chesapeake Lexington’s customer base. The press is equipped to process UV and aqueous inks and coatings.

This is the fourth Heidelberg press at the Lexington site.  Jason Corbett, Lexington’s plant manager, said: ''The XL106 is one of the most advanced presses available. The machine is also highly productive and will perfect at 18,000 sheets per hour. The XL’s image and inspection control features will enable us to offer unparalleled levels of quality control to our customers. The eight units and double coater will provide the site with fantastic flexibility in meeting customer requirements. This will be evident in the products we supply, the depth of colour and range of special print finishes and effects we can now offer. This will support our growth and our future aspirations as we move in 2014.''
