Oriel Targets Plastic Packaging Market with Color-Logic

Monday, January 20, 2014

Press release from the issuing company

Color-Logic--developer of the Process Metallic Color System--has recognised Oriel Printing Company as the first certified Color-Logic printer to successfully use the process on plastic substrates.  Oriel Printing Company Ltd., based in Hull, East Yorkshire, UK, gained its original Color-Logic certification more than a year ago, and has since adapted the process to polypropylene (PP) and clear recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET).  A 24-hour trade printer serving the UK and Europe, Oriel produces high quality work across a wide range of material from carton boards to plastics.  Materials as thick as 1000 microns are routinely handled.  Oriel Printing Managing Director Richard Simms, commenting on the process, said: "The Color-Logic process on plastic is a low cost technique that makes products really stand out on the shelf.  We expect it to be extremely popular in packaging.  Oriel has invested a great deal of time to maximising the luster of the metallic ink on plastic substrates.  Ordinary metallics are often dull and flat on plastic, and our technique provides excellent results and provides that extra wow factor to the consumer."

Color-Logic Director of Operations and eCommerce Dave Bowden also commented:  "The ability to use the Color-Logic process on plastic will help brand managers differentiate their packaged products from the competition in a fraction of the traditional time and cost.  Oriel Printing provides brand managers and their designers with a color chart enabling them to produce 250 metallic colors using just five inks.  In addition, the Color-Logic Design Suite permits adding decorative effects in a mere fraction of the time required by traditional methods.  This is the first time the Color-Logic process has been certified on plastic."

Established in 1978, Oriel Printing Company Ltd is a quality UV litho trade printer, operating a 24 hour sheetfed offset UV print service primarily to the packaging and point of sale markets.  The Oriel UV print division produces quality printing on specialised substrates, including plastics, foil and board.  Oriel enjoys an excellent reputation for quality and service and routinely prints for many of the top brands.  For additional information, log on to www.orielprinting.co.uk.
