Experts Offer Excellent Web-to-Print Advice in Free WhatTheyThink Webinar, Sponsored by PTI Marketing Technologies

Press release from the issuing company

Two-part series covers selection, sales, implementation and business development

Lexington, Kentucky USA - WhatTheyThink today reported that more than 300 industry professionals registered to attend a free printing industry educational webinar. Best Practices for Web-to-Print Implementation. The session was moderated by WhatTheyThink Senior Editor Cary Sherburne and featured three web-to-print users: a commercial printer, an in-plant printer and marketing communications company. The session was held on December 4, 2013 and sponsored by PTI Marketing Technologies (formerly Printable Technologies). This was Part One of a Two-Part series.  Part One was held in October and covered tips and hints on selecting the right web-to-print solution.

Both Part One and Part Two of this series can be viewed by visiting WhatTheyThink.com and selecting the Webinars tab.

“We were very pleased to have three such excellent panelists participate in both parts of this two-part series,” said Sherburne. “All of them have been involved in web-to-print for many years, and they offered terrific advice.  One surprise for me was that they all agreed that it was a mistake to build a customer demo site before collecting customer requirements. This is a common practice and they had very valid reasons why it should not be done.”

Sherburne was joined by:

Timothy C. Dust, President, F.P. Horak. Dust is currently responsible for management of daily operations, personnel development sales growth and the implementation of F.P. Horak’s vision. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1882 and began his printing career. Tim started working at F.P. Horak as a direct sales representative in 1987.  His efforts and ability to land new accounts helped F.P. Horak’s revenue grow at an average of 20% between 1987 and 1992.  In 1990, he was promoted to General Sales Manager and in 1995, promoted to his current position.

Les Barker, Senior Information Officer, World Bank. Barker has been a staff member at the World Bank for more than 30 years. He started out as a Cartographer (mapmaker) using traditional print technology and has been an active participant and champion of digital print technology, content management and deployment. In his role as a Senior Information Officer, he is responsible for managing and supporting the information technology infrastructure for the Printing and Multimedia Services Division of the World Bank.

Dwight Darling, Founder and CEO of Pinnacle. Pinnacle is a Marketing Communications Company located in the San Francisco Bay Area, started about 15 years ago as a proof-of-concept company for emerging web-to-print technology. Darling was also one of the original founders of Collabria, an early pioneer of web-based technology for the graphic arts industry.

“Webinars on the web-to-print topic continue to be one of our most popular,” said Randy Davidson, CEO of WhatTheyThink. “These two sessions were exceptionally well done. We appreciate PTI’s generosity in sponsoring this important industry event, making it available to our viewers at no charge. And we appreciate the panelists giving so generously of their time and expertise.”
