Another Group Completes PPC’s Folding Carton Boot Camp

Press release from the issuing company

SPRINGFIELD, MA - From November 12 – 13, 2013, the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) hosted its signature Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop at their headquarters in Springfield, MA.

Authorities from the folding carton industry explained the packaging production process to attendees, starting with how paperboard is made, the basics of inks and coatings, prepress, CAD, layout, graphics, presses, tooling, embossing, stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, windowing, automatic packaging equipment, and finished with an overview of rigid boxes. To honor the completion of this comprehensive two-day course, participants were each awarded a certificate of achievement.

“This class of students asked excellent questions, taking full advantage of the expertise available to them,” remarked Ben Markens, president of PPC. “Our members know that having a clear grasp on the manufacturing and converting process is crucial to new hires and non-technical staff as they immerse themselves in their roles.”

The Folding Carton Boot Camp is ideal for anyone new to carton construction (even if not new to the industry) as well as non-plant personnel with limited experience outside a single plant operation. The next Boot Camp is scheduled for April 29-30, 2014; to register or for more info, visit paperbox.org/bootcamp.
