Record-Breaking Attendance at PPC’s Rigid Box Committee Meeting

Press release from the issuing company

SPRINGFIELD, MA - On October 24, 2013 at the Fall Meeting and Leadership Conference in Dallas, TX, rigid box manufacturers and resellers came together for their annual Rigid Box Community Luncheon, recording their most heavily attended meeting to date. Led by Vice President of Burt Rigid Box Laura Hurd, the committee discussed plans for enhancing their data reporting, increasing participation, and expanding educational opportunities.

The rigid box committee recently developed a benchmarking survey to gauge operational capacity within the group. In addition to expanding this survey, the committee plans to add a specialized rigid box track to PPC’s Technical and Production meetings. The group also discussed their collaborative article on the iconic history and luxury of the rigid box, which will be forthcoming in Brand Packaging magazine. The committee is also actively building a library of webinars, curating an extensive collection of historical rigid boxes, and developing a catalog of rigid box technical terms and templates.

“Being part of the rigid box committee is an invaluable aspect of our PPC membership,” said Joey Schmissrauter, President of TPC Printing & Packaging, and winner of the 2013 Rigid Box of the Year award from the North American Paperboard Packaging Competition. “We’re able to discuss technical best practices and challenges, benchmark data, and increase our exposure in the industry. We look forward to the continued growth of this important community.”

“There is a major need for content catered to rigid box manufacturers, as evidence by this committee’s rapid growth,” noted Ben Markens, President of PPC. “We are eager to continue reaching out to determine how we can best meet their needs and enhance their businesses.”
