Konica Minolta Recognized for Environmental Sustainability Efforts

Press release from the issuing company

Ongoing CSR Initiatives Earn Company Global Recognition

Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. today announces that parent company Konica Minolta, Inc. has joined the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC).  A coalition of about 90 leading global electronics companies, the EICC seeks to improve efficiency and social, ethical and environmental responsibility in the global supply chain.

Konica Minolta views the suppliers that provide its raw materials and parts, as well as those to whom it outsources manufacturing, as essential partners in its business activities. Recognizing that it is essential to promote CSR not just within its own operations, but also across its entire supply chain, Konica Minolta requires its business partners to give consideration to human rights, labor issues, and the environment in their business operations and make CSR a more integral part of their management.  With the membership to the EICC, Konica Minolta will enhance its performance and transparency in conducting CSR activities by utilizing EICC’s various tools that meet changing social demands and requirements.

Konica Minolta, Inc. also recently announced that it has achieved a position in both the CDP Japan 500 Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and the CDP Japan 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). The CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, is an international, not-for-profit organization providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information.  These annual indices highlight the constituent companies within the large Japanese 500 companies (Japan 500) including companies in the FTSE Japan Index.

“As our management philosophy continues to focus heavily on sustainability and corporate social responsibility, we consider these recent events as evidence of our success and further impetus for such work," says Kevin Kern, senior vice president, Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.  “Under the communication message ‘Giving Shape to Ideas,’ we will keep developing new ideas to ensure customers can rely on Konica Minolta for solutions that deliver superior performance, and those that are also driven by efforts to reduce our overall impact on the environment.”

In addition to the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Indexes, Konica Minolta, Inc. has also been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index of the UK-based FTSE Group and the Japan-based Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index. The company has also been awarded with Prime Status by Germany-based oekom research AG, as being among the best companies for CSR in its international industry segment. In addition, 23 models of bizhub MFPs (multi-functional peripheral) have been awarded the US-based environmental assessment tool EPEAT “Gold” status. The Konica Minolta bizhub C554e series is also the first laser-based MFP series that meets the newly-revised, German-based Blue Angel Mark criteria (RAL-UZ 171).
