GBMP Announces Lean Workshop: The 6 Mission Critical Functions of a Manager for a Successful Lean Deployment

Press release from the issuing company

The nonprofit GBMP will offer a half day workshop entitled "Management Kaizen", on Tuesday December 17, 2013 at the Hampton Inn Boston/Natick, beginning at 8:30 AM.

BOSTON MA - Lean is an extremely effective management system derived from the Toyota Production System that strives to eliminate all waste from processes (that is, any work that is not adding value for the customer) in manufacturing, healthcare and transactional business environs.

Many Lean implementations focus heavily on the tools of lean (countermeasures such as 5S and Value Stream Mapping) which are the means used to close the gap between the current condition and the ideal that is articulated in Lean strategy. These countermeasures are tremendously effective in any environment - factory, administrative, clinical, municipal, and more; an attack on Muda (waste) can and should occur everywhere. But at the center of this Lean model is continuous human development.  Given the lean ideal condition, often referred to as "True North", Lean policy deployment provides a framework to link breakthrough strategic improvement to daily management of the business. On the one side is the management system and practice that enable an organization to strive for improvement.  This management system is the topic of the seminar.

If Kaizen means small changes for the better that come from the common sense and experience of the people who do the work,  then Management Kaizen means small changes for the better made by management to better align strategy, organization, policy and people in order to create a favorable environment for company-wide continuous improvement. GBMP's Management Kaizen ½ day workshop will explain the six key management functions that are mission critical for a successful lean deployment.

This workshop is for company owners, C level executives, general/operations/plant managers, first line supervisors, human resources and healthcare administrators, change agents/leaders, lean champions and other professionals who fill top management roles, from organizations that have either already begun their lean journey or are planning to embark on one in 2014.

Instructor, Bruce Hamilton, is a sought after presenter and lean coach. He is the President of GBMP, a four time Shingo Prize Recipient, author of the "e2 Continuous Improvement System" and the blog "Old Lean Dude" and star of the #1 selling lean training DVD in the world "Toast Kaizen: An Introduction to Continuous Improvement & Lean Principles".
