Impresa, Portugal’s Largest Media group, Selects WoodWing’s Publishing System Enterprise

Press release from the issuing company

Impresa selected WoodWing’s multi-channel publishing system Enterprise to create its newspapers and magazines for print and digital.

Founded in 1973, Impresa is the largest media group in Portugal today. The company is active in three business areas – Publishing, Digital and television, with SIC. Impresa publishes the newspaper Expresso, the best-selling weekly newspaper in Portugal and winner of the European Newspaper Award in 2006. In addition, the group publishes 14 magazines. Expresso and many of the magazines are available in print and online as well as for Android and iOS tablets and smartphones.

Impresa opted for WoodWing’s multi-channel publishing system Enterprise and its editorial management application Content Station over two other well-known systems. WoodWing replaces Impresa’s legacy system, which has been used for about 10 years but lacked the flexibility to address today’s multi-channel publishing challenges.

True multi-channel publishing
In the first phase, the production of all print titles and their digital editions for tablets and smartphones will be migrated to WoodWing’s system. At the next stage, the online offerings will also be integrated in the publishing workflow provided by Enterprise. The Impresa team can thereby leverage the groundbreaking multi-channel publishing functionality of the new version 9 of Enterprise and Content Station, reaching an unrivaled level of efficiency and ease of use.

“With Enterprise as our new publishing system, we have the flexibility to handle the production of all current and future titles in print, online and digital in an efficient and transparent manner,” said Raul Carvalho das Neves, COO Operations & Technology at Impresa. “This way, we can quickly and efficiently offer our readers the most compelling content via all appropriate channels and devices.”

The implementation of Enterprise at Impresa will be managed by WoodWing’s partner PubliQare. “Impresa selected WoodWing Enterprise against strong competition,” said Hans Fermont, Managing Director at PubliQare. “This is more proof that WoodWing’s solutions meet the requirements of publishers both in technical and economic terms.” The publishing experts at PubliQare will revamp the workflow at Impresa to meet modern standards and roll out WoodWing Enterprise integrated with Adobe DPS for digital publishing and Dataplan’s JournalDesigner for page planning.

“We are very pleased that with Impresa we can welcome one of the leading media groups in Southern Europe as a new customer,” said Roel-Jan Mouw, CEO of WoodWing Software. “This shows that we hit the mark with the latest version 9 of Enterprise, enabling publishers to redefine and consolidate their multi-channel publishing processes.”
