Press Capacity Expanded at PBM Graphics

Press release from the issuing company

PBM Graphics, Inc. Announced Installation of New Komori Press

DURHAM, NC - PBM Graphics, Inc, a Consolidated Graphics, Inc. company, announced today that it has recently installed a six-color, 40? Komori Lithrone G40 to expand its printing capacity. The addition of the new G40 brings PBM’s sheetfed press count up to seven, which includes five 6-color presses, one 8-color press and a 2-color press. The addition of this new press gives PBM a distinct advantage over its competitors as it allows for shorter turn times, a boost in press room capacity and assurance of supply.

Although the G40 came loaded with features, it was also retrofitted with a UV coating unit capable of reactive varnishes, reticulating and textured coatings that many conventional presses cannot produce. UV printing technology is advantageous for printing on paper as well as unique substrates such as foil, plastics and other synthetics, because it cures the ink instantly, increasing production speed, improving durability and ensuring the best possible bond to the stock. The UV curing system on this Komori G40 is also eco-friendly, reducing the release of harmful chemical byproducts during the printing process.
“This new press allows us to better serve our customers by utilizing the latest technology available,” says Adam Geerts, President of PBM Graphics. “It also allows us to expand our reach further into the growing folding cartons segment and meet customers’ needs with the benefits of UV printing.” PBM Graphics currently serves customers in the publishing, retail, healthcare and entertainment vertical markets, and is the largest manufacturer of paper trading cards in North America.

“PBM has built a solid reputation on producing high quality print output and we are pleased they chose to install another Komori press at their impressive operation,” says Jacki Hudmon, Sr. Vice-President of Sales for Komori America Corporation.
