Merrill Announces Expanded Document Scanning Service Offering
Monday, November 17, 2003
St. Paul, Minn. - Merrill Corporation, a global, diversified communications and document services provider, today announced the expansion of scanning services to several of its facilities nationwide. Until last year, Merrill’s primary document scanning facility was located in Cleveland, OH. However, with more and more firms recognizing the benefits of digitizing their documents, Merrill has responded by adding scanning services in many local document production centers across the U.S. including New York, New Jersey, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver and San Francisco. “The response to our local scanning service offering in these cities has been tremendous,” said Al McNee, president, Document Management Services, of Merrill Corporation. "Many law firms are no longer utilizing this technology exclusively for their larger cases.” As a result, providing this service locally for medium and even small cases is gradually becoming a much larger portion of Merrill’s business. Merrill is also increasing scanning production capacity in the Twin Cities, and has plans to add local scanning services in Southern California early next year. The new local scanning capabilities are being offered through Merrill’s existing document reproduction facilities. Merrill’s document scanning services are just one in a full suite of litigation support services offered, including document coding and OCR. In addition, Merrill recently announced its enhanced electronic discovery service offering via an agreement signed with Attenex Corporation, and also offers a web-based data repository, Merrill Discovery Navigator™.
