Sewickley Chosen as New GATF/PIA Headquarters

Press release from the issuing company

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- November 16, 2003 -- After an 18 month review, the Boards of Directors of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) and Printing Industries of America (PIA) have selected Sewickley, Pennsylvania as the new site for a consolidated headquarters location. While GATF/PIA will maintain a small office in Washington for public policy purposes, the majority of PIA operations will move to the current headquarters of GATF, located just outside of Pittsburgh. “This is the final piece to the consolidation puzzle,” noted GATF/PIA President and CEO Michael Makin. “We can now move forward to bring the full promise of consolidation to our members.” Pittsburgh edged out Waukesha, Wisconsin, which was the other finalist under consideration. The original list of competing cities included Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, the Quad Cities and St. Louis. “The Waukesha bid was outstanding and while it ultimately wasn’t the final choice of the Board, we are very confident that we can work with the printing community in Wisconsin to ensure that services are offered to this important printing center,” noted Makin. “There is no reason both cities can’t win with this consolidation by joining forces in partnership going forward, both informally and formally,” added Makin. “The most important thing we must do is come together for the benefit of the organization and our members and we are committed to doing so.” The timing for the move is the fall of 2004. GATF/PIA currently employs 80 staff.
