Lewisburg Printing completes installation of new Colter & Peterson Saber XXL paper cutter

Press release from the issuing company

Paterson, NJ – Lewisburg Printing Company has upgraded its finishing department with the installation of a new 90-inch Saber® XXL 90-inch paper cutter and auxiliary Schneider engineering paper handling equipment from Colter & Peterson.  The new machine joins a reconditioned 90-inch Seybold paper cutter that Colter & Peterson installed in 2008.

Installation and week-long training that included crews from multiple shifts ended September 27.  The 115-year-old company (www.lewisburgprinting.com) is managed by the fourth generation of the Hawkins family and operates seven days a week.  Located south of Nashville, the heralded commercial printer produces large format and flexo labels, digital printing and fulfillment.

“We choose the new Saber for three reasons,” said Thomas Hale Hawkins III, CEO of Lewisburg Printing.  “We wanted to be more efficient, we wanted to reduce our production time, and we wanted to be more current in our capabilities.  Bruce Peterson sent us a videotape of this machine in action and that’s when we determined it was the right fit for us.  We expect to put even more work through this cutter than the Seybold.”

Hawkins indicated the Saber unit will finish top sheets, litho and cut and stack work performed on two ROLAND 900XXL 73-inch large format presses.  New Jersey-based Colter & Peterson,

North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment, also installed two joggers, a delivery system with wrapping table and an automated off loader.
