Allen Datagraph Systems, Inc. to display European premiers of two digital label systems at Labelexpo Europe

Press release from the issuing company

Stand features the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System And iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label System

Derry, NH (USA) – At Stand 9G20 during Labelexpo Europe, 24-27 September in Brussels, Allen Datagraph Systems Inc. (ADSI) will demonstrate two digital label systems for the first time in Europe: its iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System and iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label System. The iTech Series digital label systems are complete turnkey systems that allow label converters to digitally print and finish smaller quantities of consumer-quality labels, in any shape, without costs and delays associated with analogue production.

Allen Datagraph exhibits at Labelexpo on the heels of winning two Must See Em awards at PRINT 13 in the US. The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System received a Best of Category award for Pressroom – Digital Presses. Meanwhile, the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Finisher received a Must See Em within the Postpress and In-Line Finishing category.

“We were very honored to receive two Must See Em awards—including a best of category—at PRINT 13. With nearly 1000 systems of all models installed worldwide, Allen Datagraph has been very successful selling cost-effective, complete digital label systems. Over the past year, we have been busy refining and extending our digital label systems. This has resulted in a complete product line, not only including our original tabletop iTech AXXIS Digital Label System, but the iTech CENTRA HS and iTech AXXIS HS digital label systems,” explains Mark Vanover, ADSI VP, Sales and Marketing.

iTech AXXIS HS: A more productive tabletop digital label system

“ADSI has engineered the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System to offer exceptional productivity and cost efficiency. Thousands of labels can be produced in just a few hours,” comments Vanover. “The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System also offers ADSI’s promise of a complete table-top label production system printing high quality labels at an astonishingly low total cost per label to produce. Many of our customers are profitable after selling as few as four jobs per month.”

The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System, launched earlier this year, is comprised of the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Printer, a high-resolution roll-fed CMYK print engine featuring LED toner technology, and the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Finisher that laminates, integrates die-less die cutting, and then strips, slits and rewinds to finished rolls of labels.

The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Printer includes an LED toner roll-to-roll printer, imaging consumer-quality labels with brilliant, durable, consistent colour at 1200 dpi X 600 dpi, at speeds up to 7.6 meters per minute. It delivers high definition printing with four-color stochastic screening versus traditional flexographic and laser printer based systems using halftone screening. With a maximum width of 216 mm, the printer has a wide degree of substrate flexibility that does not require top coating and is capable of being used standalone in a pre-die cut label workflow. The AXXIS HS prints on most standard pressure sensitive paper substrates, which are typically half to a third, the cost of inkjet substrates along with white, metallic or clear films.

Included with all iTech HS printers is a Wasatch SoftRIP, easy to use software that manages all print job parameters. The intuitive layout features enable users to maximize substrate usage to minimize waste. A full suite of colour control capabilities – ICC colour management, tone curve reproduction and unique and powerful spot colour replacement features – enhances the print quality of the iTech HS printers. The SoftRIP’s colour atlas generator internally produces 36,000 process tints for spot colour matching and also has an on-board label cost estimating tool. A variable data print option is available – enabling sequential numbering and bar codes along with graphic elements.

The roll-to-roll iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Finisher can laminate and contour-cut labels of any size and shape on-demand, without a die. As with all iTech digital finishers, print to cut registration is accomplished via the SMARTMark Optical Registration System, using the Allen DirectCut plug-in to Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw for vector-based die lines. The digital finisher also slits and strips the waste matrix for machine or hand application of labels. Requiring no dies, make-ready, or running waste, the iTech AXXIS HS Finisher can convert label substrates from 102 mm to 216 mm wide, which have been printed by any digital or analogue printing system.

iTech CENTRA HS: More efficient system for longer run lengths

“While we have been very successful selling the table-top iTech AXXIS Digital Label Systems, we believe there is still a missing product opportunity between that and the high cost digital presses. All converters have a need for digital. The iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label System makes economic sense, as it allows them to augment their current capabilities – as opposed to making a large capital investment on a digital press to replace their existing print technologies. The iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label System offers better economics for printing and finishing 305 to 915 linear meter run lengths than other technologies,” explains Vanover.

The iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label System combines the new iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label Printer with the iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label Finisher, introduced in 2011. It’s a complete roll-to-roll solution — for a fraction of the cost of other digital presses – all with low, on-going operational expenses. With the iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label System, label convertors can lower production costs and waste — while offering new capabilities to their customers.

The newest component of the system, the iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label Printer, is an LED toner printer imaging consumer-quality labels with brilliant, durable, consistent colour at 1200 dpi X 600 dpi, at speeds up to 9.1 meters per minute. It delivers high definition printing with four-color stochastic screening versus traditional flexographic and laser printer based systems using halftone screening. With a maximum width of 327 mm, the printer has a wide degree of substrate flexibility that does not require top coating. The CENTRA HS prints on most standard pressure sensitive paper substrates, which are typically half to a third, the cost of inkjet substrates along with white, metallic or clear films.

The roll-to-roll iTech CENTRA HS Digital Label Finisher can laminate and contour-cut labels of any size and shape on-demand, without a die. As with all iTech digital finishers, print to cut registration is accomplished via the SMARTMark Optical Registration System, using the Allen DirectCut plug-in to Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw for vector-based die lines. The touch screen interface makes it easy to set up and operate. The digital finisher also slits and strips the waste matrix for machine or hand application of labels. Requiring no dies, make-ready, or running waste, the iTech CENTRA HS Finisher can convert label substrates from 127 mm to 355 mm wide, which have been printed by any digital or analogue printing system.

“The expertise offered by Allen Datagraph has always been two-fold,” adds Vanover. “We believe we produce the best digital finishing systems with an unmatched economic value proposition for the label industry. And, we are able to locate and integrate exceptional print engines to match the performance of our finishing systems.”

“The digital label market continues to grow at double digit rates and our customers say that our systems help them gain new business and market share while retaining current customers by supplying on-demand short label runs—something that’s difficult to do with larger systems. Many customers report an ROI in less than a year. They provides label printers a new, profitable business opportunity,” concludes Vanover. “We expect that our digital label systems will attract a lot of attention during Labelexpo.”

Allen Datagraph will take orders for its digital label systems during Labelexpo Europe. For information, please contact Allen Datagraph Systems, Inc. at [email protected] or +1 603-216-6344.
