QSX Labels Enters Digital Printing Market with Installation of HP Indigo WS4600 Digital Press

Press release from the issuing company

Leading label converter selects HP Indigo technology to meet customer demands for high-quality, short-run labels

PALO ALTO, Calif. – HP today announced that Everett, MA-based QSX Labels, formerly Quik Stik – Xygraphix, completed installation of an HP Indigo WS4600 Digital Press to produce short runs of high-end food and beverage labels.

The installation of the press marks QSX Labels’ first entry into digital printing and helps the company address customer demand for quick turnarounds, shorter lead times and reduced inventory.  The HP Indigo WS4600 complements the company’s existing conventional printing platforms, while helping it to expand its service options and meet growing demand for shorter print runs.

“Label graphics are more sophisticated than ever and more consumer products are vying for retail shelf position like never before. Unique, high-quality prime labels are the ones that stand out to consumers. We needed a digital print solution to produce these custom labels with variable data print in shorter runs,” said Robert Karess, President, QSX Labels. “The HP Indigo WS4600 Digital Press gives us more versatility than we have with analog options, and its superior color quality helps us produce these eye-catching, distinctive labels at any run length to give our customers a competitive edge in the marketplace.”

Expanding capabilities with HP Indigo digital technology

Since installing the HP Indigo WS4600 in July 2013, QSX Labels has produced short runs of high-end food and beverage labels with superb cost efficiency and extraordinary image quality. The press has also helped QSX Labels to produce nutraceutical,  bath and beauty labels, allowing it to expand into new product lines.

QSX Labels takes advantage of the wide color gamut capabilities of HP liquid ElectroInk technology to provide its customers with exceptional color matching, enabling it to meet strict brand requirements and print full color, high-quality labels. Additionally, the increased variety of substrates available for the press gives QSX creative flexibility to offer its customers more options.

HP is a partner, not just a supplier

Frequent requests for decreased run lengths, variable data printing and quicker turnaround times led QSX Labels to adopt digital printing technology. The company conducted extensive evaluation of competitive systems before selecting the HP Indigo WS4600 as its platform of choice.

“With a purchase like this, it’s really important to have the right experience and people behind you to be successful,” said Karess. “HP’s strong presence in the digital label market and its commitment to the success of its partners gives us an umbrella of protection in addition to vast knowledge to draw from.”
