Church of Scientology International Chooses Alwan PRINT Standardizer

Press release from the issuing company

Lyon - Church of Scientology International's Dissemination & Distribution Center located in Commerce, California, announced that it has chosen Alwan Color Expertise's PRINT Standardizer software, to control the quality of its print production, to update G7® plate curves for its presses, and to monitor the efficiency of its printing facility.

Jud Posner, Pressroom Manager and G7 Expert, is thrilled: "Having invested a tremendous amount of time implementing a color management program we needed a method to maintain our standards. Alwan's Ink Optimizer ECO was a key part of our G7 & Color Management success and it only made sense to take this to the next level and implement Print Standardizer on all three of our presses. GMI's Clarios ColorQuick does a very good job when it comes to monitoring and automatically adjusting for ink densities, nevertheless, we needed print dot gain and gray balance to be monitored and adjusted as well. This is where Alwan Print Standardizer comes into the play."

Dave Hunter, G7®, G7®PC and PSA expert, is Alwan's representative in North America. He explains: "G7® conformance is paramount for all quality printers today. Achieving G7® conformance manually by printing a P2P, measuring it and correcting for plate curves is relatively straight forward for any consultant and customer to do. However, this manual press calibration has two severe limitations: first, it is costly, one hour print on a web press costs thousands of US Dollars; second, press TVI and gray balance change with time, temperature, humidity and jobs, even if all other printing process parameters remain exactly the same. Press curves should be monitored and corrected regularly, weekly or even daily, this can not be done manually or off-production. This is why I recommended Alwan PRINT Standardizer to Scientology printing plant, and results are there. Every job that ships out of their printing plant is compliant to ISO and to G7®."

Jud Posner adds: "It has been a long process. My goal was to be able to implement a system which can track with the inherent changes and variables of a high speed web press. We have been working with the Alwan Engineers for nearly a year making GMI data available to APS, and on getting APS to process more than 100,000 measurements per day and per press. APS now works with GMI's exported measurement files without question and everyone's efforts and hard work have definitely paid off."

Dave Hunter concludes: "With Alwan CMYK Optimizer in prepress controlling and standardizing incoming files to match SWOP® and GRACoL® color spaces, and Alwan Print Standardizer in the pressroom controlling and standardizing printing presses to match SWOP® and GRACoL® G7® gray balance, Scientology has a totally controlled and secured print production and a pressroom efficiency and productivity I rarely see. Every serious printer should have Alwan solutions today!"
