FUJIFILM Announcesthe J Press 540W, a High Quality Inkjet Web Press Making its Debut at Print'13

Press release from the issuing company

Valhalla, N.Y. – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division is adding to its production line-up of high quality, high speed production inkjet presses with the US debut of the J Press 540W at PRINT’13.  The J Press 540W is an inkjet web press that is fully variable content capable and ideal for short run production of leaflets, magazines, textbooks, manuals, and newspapers.

The J Press 540W is a single tower compact footprint design with a single-pass duplex system that can easily adjust registration of both front and back sides. Printing at speeds up to 417 ft./min., the J Press 540W creates flexibility in print page size facilitating a reduction in paper waste, and able to print short-run work more efficiently and cost effectively than conventional offset printing.

“With conventional web offset presses, printing sizes are limited by the size of the plate cylinder. The J Press 540W uses direct data printing allowing flexibility in the cut-off size of the paper,” said Jeffrey Nelson, business development manager, Fujifilm North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division. “With the short-run and variable data capabilities of inkjet, now you can efficiently and cost effectively produce print for a growing number of applications that just weren’t practical for conventional web offset.”

The J Press 540W produces high quality output using Fujifilm’s FM-based screening technology, enabling smooth color tones and sharp text.  Fujifilm’s high performance VIVIDIA ink, developed specifically for the J Press 540W, delivers vivid color and allows high-density images to be printed at high speed.  VIVIDIA inks result in less ink transfer from sheet to sheet, cost effectively enabling high quality reproduction even on thin substrate.

Fujifilm previously established an entirely new product category with the J Press 720, a high-quality, sheetfed inkjet press offering a half-size solution for print runs of just one or thousands. The J Press 720 is revolutionizing the graphic communications industry.  It utilizes FUJIFILM Dimatix’s SAMBA™ single-pass piezo drop-on-demand inkjet head technology to achieve an impressive true 1,200 dpi x 1,200 dpi resolution with a four-level grey scale, a specification unobtainable from any other inkjet press. With a 29.5” x 20.8” sheet and an output of 2,700 sheets per hour, it’s the perfect solution for printers looking for a product that has the quality and robustness of an offset press, as well as the versatility to handle even the shortest of press runs. It provides a superior solution for the fastest-growing segment of the market, and where the opportunities will be in the future. The J Press 720 brings together Fujifilm’s knowledge, expertise, and research and development efforts to give printers the quality, versatility, productivity, and efficiency they need to meet the demands of today’s print buyer.

Complimenting the J Press 720 and 540W is the J Press F, Fujifilm’s high-performance, inkjet folding carton press.  Designed to print on 8 to 24 point paper board, the J Press F has an in-line coater for applying aqueous or UV coatings to further enhance productivity, a unique feature for a digital inkjet press. With the J Press F, now you can specialize in printing folding cartons and produce shorter runs of customized packages, with faster turn times at a lower cost overall. The J Press F will not be displayed on the show floor at Print’13; however, a video within the Fujifilm booth will detail the speed and versatility of this soon to be available production inkjet press.

Fujifilm at PRINT’13

The 11,000 sq. ft. Fujifilm booth will showcase new commercial print, wide format and packaging solutions featuring the latest innovations in inkjet and workflow technologies within the ‘NOW YOU CAN’ themed booth. These solutions deliver new capabilities to help printers respond to buyer requests for fast turnaround of customized short print runs, while still meeting their quality and low cost demands.  Live presentations of the J Press 540W and the J Press 720 will be available each day within the Fujifilm booth (# 1218).
