Midland Paper Brings on Two New Innovative Digital Substrates

Press release from the issuing company

Premium Digital Media for Digital Printing Applications

WHEELING, IL – Midland Paper, Packaging and Supplies, one of North America's largest independent distributors of media for business communications, today announced the introduction of two innovative Digital products from Convertible Solutions – Double Thick Impact Cards and Multiloft.

Double Thick Impact Cards are twice the thickness of a typical “high caliper” digitally printed postcard.  “Every opportunity we have to present these products to customers, there is a buzz in the room and people take notice”, says Mike Ratcliff, Midland’s VP and General Manager of Specialty Paper and Film.  These 24 point Double Thick Impact Cards are designed to run through standard digital presses including HP Indigo Technology and can be folded with a typical bindery folder. They are perfect for short run and variable data jobs. Each 18.5 x 12” press sheet is a 12 Point C1S substrate with pressure sensitive cohesive adhesives on the back. Substrates coated with cohesive adhesives will only adhere to other surfaces coated with the same adhesive. Both surfaces are coated and dried - when the two surfaces are joined (by pressure), they will adhere to each other. You print both sides (front and back) of your postcard on the front of the sheet. When folded, the front and back of the postcard seal together to create an impactful 24 point card. The finished card can be used for business cards, postcards or invitations. After printing, the sheets can be UV coated or laminated.

MultiLoft allows the creation of stationary quality cards up to 68 Point thickness using HP Indigo and other digital technologies.  Using a digitally compatible 17 Point/120# Cover stock, MultiLoft functions similarly to the Double Thick Impact Card. Each sheet is 17 Points thick with pressure sensitive cohesive adhesives on the back. After printing on a standard digital press, the front and back sheets are assembled and joined back to back. The pressure from the trimming clamp on the guillotine cutter seals the sheets together into an impactful 34 Point Card. MultiLoft Insert Sheets (17 Pt thickness), with pressure sensitive cohesive adhesives on each side, can be added to create a “triple” or “quadruple” thick card using a standard white sheet or a color (black or red) MultiLoft Accent Insert Sheet. Two MultiLoft Sheets and two MultiLoft Insert Sheets produce a 68 point card.

"Just as we have for all of our Specialty Paper and Film media products, Midland is committed to being the 'best in class' provider of products and expertise for Specialty Substrates for digital printing," stated Mike Ratcliff, Vice President and General Manager for Midland’s Specialty Paper and Film Division. "These exceptional new Specialty Substrates are evidence of that commitment, combining an exceptional breadth of top quality in-stock products for high-demand applications with stellar customer service. The result is a complete solution that helps Midland customers open new doors of opportunity and profitability in today's rapidly growing Digital Printing marketplace."
