Fry Communications announces the order of a new Heidelberg 3000

Press release from the issuing company

Mechanicsburg, PA-- 11/7/2003-- Fry Communications, Inc. announces the order of a new Heidelberg 3000 heatset color offset press for delivery in early 2004. The 3000/48 represents the state-of-the-art in high yield/high speed press technology and will be outfitted, as are most of Fry’s heatset color presses, with a complete complement of quality assuring technologies and productivity enhancements. Included are technologies such as closed loop color controls and automated register systems. Additionally, gapless blankets will eliminate gap-related vibration, allowing premium print quality at up to 100,000 impressions per hour. Elimination of the blanket gap also reduces the non-print area, significantly reducing paper consumption. Pinless folders will reduce bleed trim requirements, complementing the paper savings made possible with gapless blankets. Shaftless drives will improve print quality by eliminating torsional vibration and reducing register variation. Independent drives on the splicer, printing units, chill rolls and folder provide superior web control and tension, reducing web breaks. “We are very excited at the expansion opportunity this new press presents to both current and potential clients,” said Henry Fry, President of Fry Communications. “It continues along our philosophy of continuing to invest in the best tools and technologies to more comprehensively support the needs of our clients.” The press will be installed in Fry’s newest building number four and augment Fry’s company-wide battery of 25 presses.
