Avery Dennison Announces Supreme Wrapping Film "Wrap Like A King" Challenge With West Coast Customs

Press release from the issuing company

Mentor, Ohio – Avery Dennison announced today the launch of the “Wrap Like a King” Challenge featuring Avery Dennison® Supreme Wrapping Films. Avery Dennison Graphic Solutions is hosting the competition with supporting sponsors, West Coast Customs and Croftgate USA. Over $25,000 in prizes will be given away to participants and voters.

“Wrap Like a King” is a competition for professional vehicle wrap installers in the United States and Canada to show off their skills by creating unique, well-installed car wraps with Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film between August 1 and September 15. Submissions to the Challenge will include photos and information about the car wrap the installer completed using Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film.

“We are excited to see the unique color change and vehicle wraps that installers and designers create with Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Films and Conform Chrome accent films,” said Meghan Lagoni, channel marketing programs manager at Avery Dennison. “Our ‘Wrap Like a King’ Challenge provides installers the opportunity to show off their skills and the conformability of Supreme Wrapping Film to industry experts and car enthusiasts who have the opportunity to vote for the ultimate winner.”

After all submissions are entered by September 15, professional judges will choose the top 32 car wraps to move to the next round for a chance to win the grand prize package that includes $2,000 in cash and a trip to SEMA, with the winning car wrap design displayed in the West Coast Customs and Avery Dennison booths.

Judges for the competition include:

  • Ryan Friedlinghaus, founder and CEO of West Coast Customs
  • Kevin Putnam, lead designer and social media manager at West Coast Customs
  • Justin Pate, leader of Avery Dennison hands-on car wrapping workshops and certification program in North America
  • Paul Roba, North America technical manager for Avery Dennison
  • Dan Marx, vice president of markets & technologies for the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA)
  • James “Ruggs” Kochevar, publisher of SIGN & Digital Graphics and WRAPS magazines

“Our support of the Avery Dennison ‘Wrap Like a King’ Challenge is exciting professionally and personally,” said Friedlinghaus of West Coast Customs. “Having designers and installers compete while using the same product will be a test to see who really is the king – the best in the car wrapping business. I’m excited to see who will come out on top, with the crown.”

The top 32 submissions will then compete in a public online voting competition starting on September 16 at www.wraplikeaking.com. The submissions with the most votes at the end of each round will continue on to compete for the grand prize. The grand prize winner will be announced October 14.

Voters have a chance to win over $10k in prizes. All voters, from all rounds, will be entered into a drawing to win a grand prize of a $150 Croftgate gift card and trip to visit the West Coast Customs television production set. Voters will also be chosen randomly in each round of voting to win multiple Croftgate gift cards.

“We’re honored to be a part of the contest and see the designs and car wrap installations entered,” said Frank Defeo, national sales director at Croftgate USA. “The competition is also an opportunity for car enthusiasts to win by voting for their favorite wraps. With ‘Wrap Like a King,’ people from all over the country can see the transformation that happens when you use Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film.”

Vinyl wraps and graphics can be installed on most vehicles and boats, ATVs, motorcycles and RVs. Wraps easily change the look of a vehicle, can be installed quicker than a custom paint job and are often more affordable than paint.
