Canon Ranks Among Interbrand's Top 50 Global Green Brands of 2013

MELVILLE, N.Y. – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today that Canon ranks number 30 on the list of Top 50 Global Green Brands in 2013 by Interbrand, the world's leading brand consultancy. Canon's commitment to Kyosei, defined as living and working together for the common good, was highlighted by Interbrand as a strength that helps put sustainability and corporate citizenship at the heart of the brand. 

"We believe that the results of Interbrand's 2013 Best Global Green Brands reflect Canon's commitment to minimizing our environmental footprint, as well as giving back to the communities we serve," said Joe Adachi, president and CEO, Canon U.S.A. "Canon's implementation of our unique philosophy of Kyosei has helped to reinforce our reputation as a leader in corporate citizenship, and we are honored to be included in this category."

Additionally, Interbrand recognized Canon's adherence to its Corporate Social Responsibility partnerships, including our involvement with the World Wildlife Fund, a partnership where Canon technology has been used to help digitize the organization's image collection, along with Canon's commitment to reduce the environmental impact of every aspect of the product lifecycle, from manufacturing and recycling through to actual use.

Canon has undertaken several initiatives to reduce environmental impact, including an ink cartridge and office equipment recycling program, and partnerships with the Environmental Protection Agency in its ENERGY STAR program to promote the development of energy-efficient products, and SmartWay Transport Partnership to reduce the environmental impact of the Company's transportation activities. Every year Canon also supports a variety of environmental initiatives around the country, including the Canon Clean Earth Crew, in which Canon employees volunteer their time to protect and improve the natural environment in communities near Canon offices.
